The thing I love most about looking at old photos is imagining yourself standing in that place during that time period. The thing I love about Saratoga, is it allows you to do just that.
This photo, c. 1910, is looking east on Union toward the track, right before Nelson Ave where the dividers begin. I know that white house on the right is still there, and looks just the same because I’ve walked by it many times.
Sure there’s pavement and street lights now, maybe a few less trees, but with it’s cobblestone sidewalks and 150+ year old houses, Union Ave has always been the grand entrance to our beautiful city.
