A new Indian restaurant is open in Clifton Park.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spice Malabar, 7 Southside Drive, opened in The Shops at Village Plaza on March 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cuisine at Spice Malabar is influenced by\u00a0 <\/span>the flavors of north and south Indian. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vince George, chef and owner of Spice Malabar, said North Indian cuisine includes dishes and breads cooked in the tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. Traditionally, meats and vegetables slowly cook in tomato, onion, and tree nut-based sauces, which are seasoned to each dish. <\/span><\/p>\n

South Indian cuisine brings together the cuisines of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Mangalore and Goa with a range of healthy dishes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seafood is at the heart of Spice Malabar\u2019s menu, which also includes poultry, game and vegetarian selections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Visitors to Spice Malabar can experience a\u00a0 <\/span>lunch buffet that includes tandoor, vegan, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian specialties.\u00a0 <\/span>Convenient take-out lunch box specials and other \u00e0 la carte menu options are also offered mid-day. <\/span><\/p>\n

The dinner menu consists of appetizers, tandoori specialties, vegetarian, chicken, game, and seafood preparations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A tasting menu, comprised of authentic Indian delicacies paired with vegetable biriyani, garlic naan and tandoori broccoli, is a recommended way to explore the special flavors of the kitchen. Classic signatures such as mango curry, chettinadu and pepper fry dishes are also available in addition to an authentic homemade dessert menu.<\/span><\/p>\n

George began his career when he graduated in culinary management in Chennai, India, and started as a line cook in some of the most prestigious Indian kitchens.\u00a0 <\/span>He then moved to New Jersey where he joined the Sankalp Group of Restaurants, a Gujarat-based company, before moving on to Karavalli of Latham, where he has been an executive chef for 10 years and a key player in the development of other projects affiliated with Karavalli of Latham.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been overwhelmed by the positive response Karavalli has received over the years,\u201d said George. \u201cTo share our food with a new audience and bring the cuisine of northern and southern India to Clifton Park is very exciting for our team. As members of the community ourselves, we are looking forward to welcoming our neighbors to our new space.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Soon, Spice Malabar will feature a full bar offering hand-crafted cocktails, wine and beer.<\/span><\/p>\n

The custom d\u00e9cor and hand-crafted interior spaces are flooded with natural light by day, and \u201cby night the restaurant\u2019s profusion of ambient glow will provide much intimacy to the dining experience,\u201d the company said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spice Malabar is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday noon to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday noon to 3:00 p.m. Dinner hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 5-9:30\u00a0 <\/span>p.m.\u00a0 <\/span>and Sunday 5-9 p.m. <\/span><\/p>\n
