The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County are partnering to provide expertise and guidance to support entrepreneurs seeking to pursue growing business opportunities in the nation\u2019s $6 trillion food industry.
\n\u201cRecipe for Success: A Workshop for Food Entrepreneurs\u201d will be presented on Thursday, April 11, at Cornell Cooperative Extension\u2019s offices at 50 West High St. in Ballston Spa. The daylong program will provide important information on licensing, processing, packaging, marketing, pricing, and selling food products.
\nThe workshop also includes the basics of successful small business management.
\nPresentations and sessions will be led by experts from a host of organizations and industry leaders, including the Cornell University Food Venture Center, the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, New York Kitchen Co. and SCORE Small Business Advisors, among others.
\nIn addition, local entrepreneurs from businesses such as Healthy Living Market & Caf\u00e9, Puckers Gourmet, The Food Florist, and Lucy Jo\u2019s Coffee will share their experiences and lessons learned.
\n\u201cThe rapid growth of the food industry is opening up opportunities for a new breed of entrepreneurs to build job-creating, revenue-generating businesses in our community,\u201d said Marty Vanags, president of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership. \u201cWe are delighted to work with Cornell Cooperative Extension to offer critical knowledge and guidance that can help turn a favorite recipe into a thriving business.\u201d
\n\u201cWe are excited to work with the Saratoga Partnership to present this workshop, which will help would-be entrepreneurs determine if starting a food business is the right decision,\u201d said Diane Whitten, food and nutrition educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension. \u201cFrom planning for and marketing a value-added food product to a road map for launching a company, participants will be grounded in food business basics, as well as the resources available to assist along the way.\u201d
