The inaugural GSA Silicon Summit-East, an event that will bring leading executives and technologists to Saratoga Springs to discuss extending semiconductor technology, emerging market trends, and opportunities for collaboration and business growth, has been scheduled for Oct. 9 at Saratoga\u00a0 <\/span>City Center.<\/p>\n It will promote collaboration to advance semiconductor technology and business, and provide unique insight to inform the regional ecosystem on growth opportunities, officials said.<\/p>\n Involved in putting together the event are the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, the county\u2019s designated economic development agency;\u00a0 <\/span>the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a leading voice for the worldwide semiconductor industry, and the Center for Economic Growth (CEG), a regional economic and business development organization.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Officials said more than 250 attendees are expected at the conference. The event is a direct result of the strategic alliance established last year by the Saratoga Partnership and GSA, which represents more than 400 member companies in 32 countries that combine for over 75 percent of revenue in the $400 billion semiconductor industry.<\/p>\n With a theme of \u201cHarnessing Emerging Semiconductor Market Opportunities,\u201d the summit is designed to promote partnerships that are critical to advancing both semiconductor technology and business, officials said. Through a day-long agenda with presentations, panel discussions and other interactions, the event aims to drive efficiencies that will strengthen the industry, while also informing the regional ecosystem on growth opportunities.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are delighted to partner with the Global Semiconductor Alliance and Center for Economic Growth on an event that places Saratoga County on center stage in the worldwide semiconductor industry,\u201d said Marty Vanags, president of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership. \u201cThe Silicon Summit- East will provide a venue to create connections, expand networks and build relationships that support a sustainable approach to economic development and generate long-term prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n Jodi Shelton, president and co-founder of GSA, said\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe look forward to discussing the vital role of semiconductor and supply chain companies in the region in powering innovation to support the needs of industry and drive business performance and growth.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFor more than 30 years, the Center for Economic Growth has made a concentrated effort to develop the Capital Region as a hub for the global semiconductor industry,\u201d said Andrew Kennedy, president and CEO of CEG. \u201cThrough focused investments that advance next generation high technology research and commercialization activities at SUNY Polytechnic Institute and RPI, as well as targeted economic development projects to attract leading companies, the region is on the industry\u2019s map. The local presence of\u00a0 <\/span>industry giants such as GlobalFoundries, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron, ASML and Lam Research is a testament to that fact. By partnering with GSA and\u00a0 <\/span>the Saratoga Partnership, we can showcase what the Capital Region can provide to worldwide industry leaders and highlight why New York makes sense for their next investment.\u201d<\/p>\n The strategic alliance enables the Saratoga Partnership to promote Saratoga County as a destination for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing businesses, and connects companies throughout the ecosystem with the valuable services provided by GSA, officials said.<\/p>\n The Saratoga Partnership is working closely with the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau, Saratoga City Center, and Saratoga Hilton to help coordinate the event.
