It was four years ago that Beverly Tracy opened up her own design studio in downtown Saratoga Springs. Since then, she has made a name for herself in the professional community, raised her two sons, and has established a relationship with the community of Saratoga Springs.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cDesign has always been my passion. I spent my early childhood in New York City, in museums, Soho galleries, at the ballet and in the boutiques of Madison Avenue. As a teenager, I studied design at Parson\u2019s School of Design and spent time with designers, submerging myself in the world of art, fashion and design,\u201d said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
Beverly Tracy Home Design, 480 Broadway Suite LL16, has been featured in magazines like Better Homes and Gardens. She said the business stems from her interest in creating interiors she describes as graceful, meaningful and full of depth. She focuses on residential spaces, but also has a number of large-scale commercial projects, including working with several construction firms and top local builders.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to be the design team selected for several large-scale renovation and new construction projects that are a part of the development of Saratoga as a vibrant and special city. I believe that it is important that we surround ourselves with beautiful and meaningful things, and that drives my design decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cWe start most projects with a design mission statement, which guides us through a collaborative design process and continues to drive decisions as we make selections and define our design direction,\u201d said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
Tracy spent time in New York City and traveling abroad to gain a broad base of knowledge about the design industry. She said she learned the importance of working with clients in order to bring a sense of who they are and how their space can be a reflection of that.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cIt is my belief that it is essential to surround oneself with that which is both beautiful, meaningful, and functional. That is what brings us inspiration and joy. In this way, we develop fluid spaces in which our clients can find comfort and grow,\u201d said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
While building her business, Tracy has been raising her two boys, who she calls her inspiration. She said being a single mother and business owner has been a challenge at times, especially when it comes to maintaining balance in her life.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cRaising boys alone, who are kind, caring and happy, has driven every decision I have made, and through my dedication to this, my children have flourished and my business continues to grow.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cThe Saratoga community has been supportive and we have a wonderful life, but it was not always easy. When we arrived in Saratoga nearly 14 years ago, we rented a small downtown flat. The early years were challenging. I would work around my sons\u2019 school schedules, spend as much time as possible with them, and work on design projects after putting them to sleep at night,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful that we made our roots in Saratoga. It has been a wonderful community for my family, both professionally and personally, \u201c said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
She said she works alongside Kelly Daly, who she described as a talented and dedicated employee. Together, they are working on over 25 projects, with more on the horizon. Tracy hopes to expand to five employees.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important to me, as a female business owner, to help develop young women who are interested in design and to give back to the community by doing so,\u201d said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
The design studio has an abundance of fabrics, wall coverings, paint swatches, custom furniture selections and renovation and building materials for clients to choose from.<\/span><\/p>\n
Tracy said she hopes to expand the business, not only with additional employees, but in space as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited about a new business launch, which we will announce by the end of the year, and we are considering opening another branch. It is an exciting time,\u201d said Tracy.<\/span><\/p>\n
