Matt Jones, of the Jones Firm, is the 2016 chairman
\nof the board of directors of the Saratoga County
\nChamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n
Jones, founder of the Saratoga Springs law firm,
\nwill assume the new volunteer leadership position
\nJan. 1.<\/p>\n
Valerie Muratori, executive director of Saratoga
\nBridges, was chairwoman of the board in 2015 and
\nwill continue to serve on the Executive Board as the
\nimmediate past chair.<\/p>\n
The 2016 board of directors will be recognized at
\nthe Chamber’s 98th annual dinner, on Thursday, Jan.
\n28 at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway.
\nThe event will kickoff with a cocktail hour 6-7 p.m.,
\nfollowed by dinner and the program 7-8:30 p.m.,
\nthen a dessert reception ending at about 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
\n“I want to commend the great leadership provided
\nby Valerie Muratori as chair of the chamber’s
\nboard of directors in 2015,” said Jones. “Val’s ability
\nto help guide the board and the professional staff
\nensured everyone was engaged in the process and
\nthat diverse ideas were shared and discussed. ”<\/p>\n
He said during her tenure, the Chamber’s #healthysaratoga
\nmovement invented three new events: a
\nHealth and Wellness Week, the HORSE Basketball
\nTournament, and a Silent Disco.<\/p>\n
Also, “We were all appreciative of the Chamber’s
\npromotion of #pharoahtoga which helped to bring
\nAmerican Pharoah to Saratoga for an unforgettable
\nweekend.”<\/p>\n
According to Jones, the board of directors will
\nbe working hard in 2016 via the organization’s
\nConcerned Citizens for Saratoga Racing to partner
\nwith area legislators to push for the re-privatization
\nof NYRA as a nonprofit corporation.<\/p>\n
“This issue is critically important for our entire
\nregion and is one where we will certainly be visible
\nand vocal,” said Jones. “We’re going to invite everyone
\nto join our #healthysaratoga movement to make
\nSaratoga Springs and Saratoga County one of the
\nhealthiest place to live and work.”<\/p>\n
Jones said the Chamber will also “be evaluating
\nwhat we can do to help local employers to find the
\ntalent they need to fill local job openings through
\nour Job Zone and Human Resources Council. We
\nalso expect more great things from our Leadership
\nSaratoga program and our Veterans Business
\nCouncil, as we seek to train the next generation of
\ncommunity leaders and to help Saratoga County’s
\nVeterans.”<\/p>\n
The chairman-elect for 2016 is David Collins of
\nD.A. Collins & Companies, who will become board
\nchairman in 2017. The vice chairs of the board of
\ndirectors are Brian Straughter of the Turf Hotels and
\nthe Hampton Inn Saratoga and Theresa Agresta of
\nAllegory Studios. The treasurer is Kevin Hedley, of
\nHedley & Co. and the secretary is Nafeesa Koslik of
\nthe Hampton Inn Clifton Park.<\/p>\n
Board members elected to serve a three-year
\nterms, running until Dec. 31, 2018, are: Agresta,
\nShelly Amato of the Wesley Community, Raj
\nGhoshal of Polyset, Daryl Glass, of Target Distribution,
\nKoslik, Jessica Petraccione of First National
\nBank of Scotia and Christianne Smith of Design-
\nSmith Studios.<\/p>\n
Members appointed to serve one-year terms
\nstarting are Chad Beatty of Saratoga Today, John
\nBove of Bove Fuels and Skip Carlson of Saratoga
\nCasino & Raceway. Cliff Van Wagne, of the Wesley
\nCommunity serves on the board for one year as a
\npast chairman.<\/p>\n
Other board members are Kevin Soukup, of
\nGlobalFoundries, Steve Springer of Atlantic-British,
\nCassie Fox of N. Fox Jewelers, Peter Goutos of CA
\nSmith, David DeMarco of Saratoga National Bank
\nand Trust, Marianne Barker of Impressions of
\nSaratoga, David Cummings of the Run at Saratoga,
\nDr. Adam Favro of Turning Point Chiropractic; Art
\nJohnson of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership
\nand the Town of Wilton; Beth Alexander
\nof Hattie’s Restaurant, Dan Wagner, of State Farm
\nInsurance and Charlie Wait, of The Adirondack
