The United States Mint will join with the
\nNational Park Service to launch the America
\nthe Beautiful Quarters program coin honoring
\nSaratoga National Historical Park on Tuesday,
\nNov. 17, at 9:30 a.m. at Schuylerville High
\nSchool, 14 Spring St. (Route 29), Schuylerville.<\/p>\n
The event is open to the public. Schools
\nand individuals wishing to follow the event
\nremotely will be able to watch a live streaming
\nvideo on WNYT TV 13’s website,
\nwww.nyt.com.<\/p>\n
The Saratoga National Historical Park
\nquarter is the 30th release in the U.S. Mint’s
\nAmerica the Beautiful Quarters program, a 12-
\nyear initiative to honor national parks or other
\nnational sites in all 50 states and the five U.S.
\nterritories. The coin’s reverse design depicts a
\nclose-up of the moment Gen. John Burgoyne
\nsurrendered his sword to Gen. Horatio Gates, a
\nturning point many believe marked the ‘beginning
\nof the end of the American Revolutionary
\nWar.’ Inscriptions are “British Surrender
\n1777,” “Saratoga,” “New York,” “2015” and “E
\nPluribus Unum.”<\/p>\n
After the ceremony, Glens Falls National
\nBank will run a “quarter exchange,” and individuals
\nwill be able to exchange cash for
\nrolls of quarters, one roll minimum\/10 roll
\nmaximum, for $10 cash per roll. Friends of
\nSaratoga Battlefield www.friendsofsaratogabattlefield.
\norg will have a sales table for
\nthose wishing to purchase commemorative
\nquarter sets.<\/p>\n
