Trent Trahan, chief executive officer of

PrimeLink, said the first phase of the company’s

expansion of service in Saratoga Springs is

complete and expansion will continue throughout

2015.

PrimeLink provides customers with high speed

internet access, voice solutions, and

hosted and traditional phone systems. All

services are brought to the end user with a

100 percent fiber optic network, Trahan said.

“This availability of fiber optic technology

will provide Saratoga with the most advanced

transport medium available in digital communications

and provide a more competitive

environment for business customers seeking

affordable high quality communication services,”

he said.

PrimeLink, a subsidiary of the 112-year-old

Champlain Telephone Co., began its work in

1997 with the establishment of a 242-mile fiber

optic backbone from Albany to Montreal. This

$40 million private investment represented

the first network backbone of its kind in the

Champlain Valley, according to the company.

Trahan said PrimeLink’s goal from the beginning

was to enhance the economics of the area

and improve the quality of life and business

climate in the communities it serves. Fiberoptic

communication represents the future of

digital communications.

“It is a method of transmitting information

from one place to another by sending pulses of

light through an optical fiber. The light forms an

electromagnetic carrier wave that is adapted

to carry information,” he said.

“There is no end in sight as to the amount

of bandwidth that is possible over fiber cables

which makes it poised to prepare the Adirondacks

for the communication needs of the

future.”

PrimeLink President and General Manager

Greg MacConnell on average PrimeLink is able

to save business customers up to 20-30 percent

on a communications budget.
