In April, Robert DiFusco pitched his tent
\non the outskirts of Saratoga Springs for the
\nsecond season of Furlong’s Family Fun,
\nan outdoor restaurant offering barbecue,
\nsmoked meats, ice cream and other treats.<\/p>\n

Last year, the business’s first season, was
\na “real good opening season,” according to
\nFusco.
\nHe described Furlong’s as “a real family
\nplace” with plenty of parking.<\/p>\n

The tent can be used for parties for special
\nevents, rain or shine. For such events,
\nFurlong’s provides food and ice cream, in a
\nspacious venue for business groups, sports
\nteams, and friends to gather for any sort of
\ncelebration.<\/p>\n

Furlong’s regular ice cream comes from
\nVermont and the “very popular” soft serve
\nis from a local dairy farm. The meats are
\nsmoked in-house.<\/p>\n

There are five tables inside the restaurant
\nbut plenty of room for customers at
\nthe picnic tables under the tent out front.
\nFurlong’s also offers barbecue catering for gatherings and special events. The
\nmenu includes meats, side dishes, and
\nfreshly made salads. The smoked barbecue
\nincludes everything from chicken, beef
\nbrisket, pulled pork to ribs. Everything is
\nmade from scratch fresh daily with quality
\ningredients from original southern recipes.<\/p>\n

Most of the small staff are Saratoga High
\nSchool student athletes, he said. DiFusco is
\na coach and substitute teacher at the high
\nschool. He coaches boys’ junior high school
\nbaseball and junior varsity volleyball and
\ngirls’ junior varsity basketball.<\/p>\n

So far, Furlong’s is just a place to eat.
\nBut DiFusco is currently going through the
\npermitting process to add a miniature golf
\ncourse. If all goes well, it will be open next
\nyear, he said.<\/p>\n

Furlong’s is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.,
\nseven days a week, from April to October.
\nIt is located at 588 Lake Ave. (Route 29E),
\nSaratoga Springs. The telephone number
