The Adirondack Trust Co. Community
\nFund and its Independent Advisory Committee
\nawarded Lend-A-Hand grants to 23 local,
\nnonprofit organizations in December.<\/p>\n
The grants were handed out at the Community
\nFund’s annual grant award reception.<\/p>\n
Directors or representatives of the organizations
\nwere present and briefly spoke about
\ntheir respective organization’s mission and
\nhow the grant will support their particular
\ncause.<\/p>\n
Grant awards were provided to:<\/p>\n
\u2022 After the Fire Inc. grant will provide
\nfunding to help families of Saratoga County
\nget back on their feet after a fire. The services
\nare provided at no charge to families
\nby volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Amorak Youth grant will provide funding
\nfor a free, local summer youth program for
\n13-15 year olds. This program provides for
\ntwo experienced educators who help children
\nenjoy fun and educational summer activities.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ballston Spa Film Festival grant will help
\nto provide funding to expand the events they
\noffer for outdoor film screenings, which in
\nturn will draw more families to the festival.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation
\nin Education grant will fund the 2015 Girls’
\nSummit, a full-day, STEM-based forum for
\nand about girls. The event is designed to empower,
\ninspire and inform girls to lead healthy
\nlives and better prepare for their future.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ben Osborn Memorial Fund Inc. grant
\nwill fund children in need, age 5-18, in the
\nform of gender and size appropriate clothing
\nassistance during the school day. Often children
\nhave an accident at school so that their
\nclothing is soiled beyond wear. The program
\nis administered through school nurses and
\nhelps hundreds of children.<\/p>\n
\u2022 First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa
\ngrant will provide funding for the continuation
\nof the Ballston youth summer lunch
\nprogram, with an expansion to the communities
\nof Malta and Rock City Falls. The program
\nprovides nutritious lunches five days a week
\nduring the months of July and August.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Lake George Music Festival grant will
\nprovide funding for the fifth year anniversary
\nseason, August 17-27. Young musicians gain
\nvaluable musical, educational experiences,
\nincluding the opportunity to perform at a
\nvarious venues.<\/p>\n
\u2022 National Museum of Racing and Hall of
\nFame grant will provide funding for the Horsing
\nAround with the Arts program scheduled
\nfor the spring. This is a youth-based art
\nexhibit at the museum and is tailored for
\nstudents’ grades 3-7 and 8-12.<\/p>\n
\u2022 North Country Wildcare grant will provide
\nassistance for the North Country Wildcare’s
\nHotline. The hotline services Saratoga
\nCounty and neighboring regions, acting as a
\nresource in regard to wildlife issues.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Opera Saratoga grant will provide
\nfunding so Opera Saratoga can expand its
\nprogramming outside of its traditional performance
\nvenue. “Saratoga Sings” is a new
\nprogram to address this goal. It will offer free
\nperformances over a six-month period from
\nJanuary to June.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Prospect School (a.k.a. Center for Disability
\nServices) grant will help cover the cost
\nof equipment used in an innovative program
\ncalled M.O.V.E. (Mobility Opportunities via
\nEducation) which assists students, many
\nwith severe physical and cognitive disabilities,
\nin increasing their independence and
\nimproving their health. Students age in range
\nfrom 2-21.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Racing City Chorus grant will provide
\nfunding so the RCC can entertain the area’s
\nsenior citizen population by bringing them
\nthe sounds of holiday music during the
\nChristmas season.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Rebuilding Together Saratoga County
\ngrant will support a technology upgrade that
\nwill enable RTSC to implement their planned
\nSafe and Healthy Homes Initiative. This includes
\nthe purchase and implementation of
\nthe Healthy Homes tool.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Regional Food Bank of Northeastern
\nNew York grant will help support the Food
\nbank’s Retail Store Donation Program or
\nRSDP. Through RSDP, the food bank partners
\nwith retailers to make frequent pick-ups of
\nsmaller amounts of donated products from
\nindividual stores.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Bridges grant will help to provide
\nfunding for their Breaking Down Barriers
\nthrough Art program. This program provides
\nart opportunities for their clients using an
\nintegrated community outreach model.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Center for the Family grant will
\nhelp to provide funding for the Heel-to-Heal
\n10-week program for high school aged girls
\nto increase self-esteem, confidence, mindfulness,
\ncoping skills and physical activity.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Community Health Center
\n\/ Saratoga Hospital grant will provide assistance
\nfor the CHC Patient Prescription
\nRelief Fund. This program will help people
\nwho cannot afford to cover prescription copays
\nor medications; currently at 125 patients
\nand growing.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Independent School grant will
\nprovide funding for the purchase of 10 scales
\nand an additional $300 for development of
\nmathematics and science curriculum materials.
\nThe balancing scales will allow students
\nto visualize math and science concepts, test
\nhypotheses and explore relations and change.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Sponsor A Scholar grant will
\nfund the purchase of graphing calculators for
\nthe incoming class of program participants
\nmade up of academically motivated, but
\neconomically disadvantaged sophomores in
\nthe Saratoga Springs City School District.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Springs Synchronized Program
\ngrant will provide funding for three teams to
\nbe developed via this program. The Saratoga
\nSprings Synchronized Skaters are girls that
\nare part of three teams: one competitive team
\nand two exhibition teams.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga grant
\nwill help to fund the bus trip program. The
\ntrips are in high demand with about 250 senior
\ncitizens annually enjoying the activity.
\nThe grant from ATCCF helps contain cost so
\nthat the program is sustainable.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Shelters of Saratoga grant will provide
\nfunding for the purchase of bus passes that
\nthe shelter guests can use for transportation
\nto required Department of Social Services
\nappointments: job searches, job fairs and
\ninterviews, medical appointments, and skills
\ntraining.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wait House grant will provide funding for
\ncase management services in the Emergency
\nShelter program. It targets youths from 16-21
\nyears old. Wait House is the only shelter for
\nhomeless youth in Warren and Washington
\ncounties.<\/p>\n

\nAdvisory Committee, said, “The message
\nwe want to send is one of sincere gratitude,
\nboth to our donors, as well as to the nonprofits
\nthat tirelessly work to better our community.<\/p>\n
The culmination of our year long efforts, the
\n2014 Lend -A-Hand grant award ceremony
\nwas a moving event where we had the privilege
\nof recognizing the incredible dedication
\nof this year’s 23 nonprofit grant recipients,
\nand supporting the amazing variety of charitable
\nworks they perform. ”<\/p>\n

\nin 2009 to serve as a perpetual source of
\nphilanthropic support for the needs of local
