Nine months after his restaurant, central
\nbakery and corporate headquarters were
\ndestroyed by fire during the holiday season,
\nDunkin’ Donuts franchisee Jerry Burke joined
\ncommunity leaders from Saratoga County to
\ncelebrate the opening of a new facility double
\nthe size of the former building at 509 Route
\n67 in Malta.<\/p>\n

Located on the same site of the restaurant
\nand bakery gutted in a pre-dawn blaze on
\nDec. 19, 2013, the new, two-story building
\nis more than 14,000 square feet, including a
\n7,000-square-foot central bakery.<\/p>\n

That bakery supplies baked goods for nearly
\ntwo dozen Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants owned
\nby The Burke Companies in Saratoga and
\nWarren counties.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud to reopen on the same site, bigger
\nand better than before, just nine months
\nafter a tragedy that could have devastated our
\nbusiness,” said Jerry Burke, principal of The
\nBurke Companies. “We were determined to
\nrebuild and were able to persevere through a
\nlot of hard work and dedication.”<\/p>\n

The Burke companies offered positions
\nat its other Dunkin’ Donuts locations to all
\nemployees who were impacted by the fire,
\nseveral of whom are now working at the new
\nfacility and were in attendance for Wednesday’s
\ncelebration, he said.<\/p>\n

The new Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant is
\n3,500 square feet and features the brand’s
\nnew “cappuccino blend” design scheme, including
\nsoft seating, digital menu boards, a
\nflat-screen television, free Wi-Fi, USB ports,
\nand extra electrical outlets to enhance the
\nguest experience.<\/p>\n

The new restaurant offers a complete menu
\nof Dunkin’ Donuts’ internationally recognized
\ncoffees, lattes, donuts and bakery goods, and
\nis open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

Located on the second floor of the facility
\nis the new 3,500-square-foot corporate
\nheadquarters of The Burke Companies, which
\ninvested a sizable portion of its own capital
\nto finance the construction and expansion of
\nthe new building, said Burke.<\/p>\n

“The Burke Companies has been an integral
\npart of Saratoga County for more than three
\ndecades,” said Todd Shimkus, president of
\nthe Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
\n“To open this beautiful new facility, and to do
\nso in such short order, is a testament to the
\ndrive and dedication that has made The Burke
\nCompanies a success.”<\/p>\n

According to the Dunkin’ Brands Group,
\nthere are more than 7,000 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants
\nin 36 states in the U.S and more than
\n3,000 international restaurants in 30 additional
\ncountries. It was founded in 1950.<\/p>\n
