Saratoga Springs custom home builder Witt
\nConstruction Inc. of Saratoga Springs won two
\n“gold” Best in American Living Awards (BALA)
\nin February at the International Builders’ Show
\nin Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The event is sponsored by the National
\nAssociation of Home Builders (NAHB). The
\nfirst award, “a one-of-a-kind home up to 4,000
\nsquare feet,” was presented to company President
\nJohn Witt for the 2013 Capital Region Parade
\nof Homes award-winning Granger Cottage.<\/p>\n

The second award, “a one-of-a-kind home
\nfrom 4,001-6,500 square feet” was given for
\nWitt’s 2011 Saratoga Showcase of Homes
\naward-winning Hillside Retreat.<\/p>\n

The 3,000-square-foot, three-bedroom Granger Cottage is located on a lot in Saratoga Springs. It is designed to make use of passive solar and features interesting architectural details such as a cupola, a wide custom staircase and a stone fireplace with signature Witt built-ins in the family room. The exterior is a mix of natural granite, cedar shakes, clapboard, and board and batten.<\/p>\n

Hillside Retreat, a European-California influenced home, sits on a hillside overlooking Saratoga Lake. The exterior of this 5,300-square-foot, four-bedroom home is finished in reclaimed cypress, stucco and stone with a slate and copper roof. It has a gourmet kitchen, dining and living areas, a yoga studio and signature Witt built-ins.<\/p>\n

Every year the awards program recognizes exceptional design in single-family and multifamily homes of all types and sizes.<\/p>\n

Witt Construction Inc. won its first two BALAs in 1999 for a Woodlawn Avenue carriagehouse- style home in Saratoga Springs. The company won a third in 2002 for its country cottage built along Denton Road, also in Saratoga Springs. The fourth BALA in 2005 was earned for an “Equestrian Estate” located in the company’s Saratoga Farm neighborhood in Malta.<\/p>\n

A fifth win in 2006 was for a home in Lakeside at Riley’s in Saratoga Springs. The sixth BALA win in 2007 was for another Saratoga Farms home in Malta. The seventh BALA in 2010 was for a 2,900-square-foot cottage on the Alley in Saratoga Springs. In 2011 the eighth BALA win was for yet another Equestrian Estate in Saratoga Farm.<\/p>\n

Witt Construction, Inc., which designs, builds and renovates homes, is a winner of numerous local and national awards. The firm’s offices are located at 563 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n
