M + W Group, the company hired by
\nGlobalFoundries as lead contractor for the
\nconstruction of its new Technology Development
\nCenter in Malta, acquired in late August
\nownership of Gehrlicher Solar America
\nCorporation (GSAC).<\/p>\n
“GSAC has demonstrated a successful
\nbusiness model for delivering world\u2010class
\nphotovoltaic (PV) power plant installations
\nfor private, commercial and utility applications,”
\nM+W officials aid in a news release.
\nGSAC will operate as a stand-alone subsidiary
\nof M+W Americas.<\/p>\n
M+W has offices in Albany and Watervliet
\nand also managed much of the construction
\nfor the first GlobalFoundries chip fabrication
\nplant that is now in use. <\/p>\n
Headquartered in Springfield, N.J., GSAC currently employs 52 staff focused on their strategy to provide the complete PV downstream value chain from project development through engineering, procurement and construction, and operations and Maintenance for commercial and utility scale projects.<\/p>\n
The acquisition provides M+W with a proven capability in the engineering, procurement, construction, operations and management of solar power plant facilities in the 1 to 15 MW range, company officials said.<\/p>\n
Combined with M+W’s competencies in engineering and construction of PV manufacturing facilities, utility infrastructure and large scale power plants, the addition of GSAC provides a complete spectrum of services for customers seeking bankable surety and highly efficient renewable energy solutions for their power needs, the company said.<\/p>\n
M+W Group primarily focuses on leading companies in the fields of electronics, photovoltaics, life science, chemicals, energy, automotive, security and communication, as well as research institutes and universities.<\/p>\n
The company managed construction of Fab 8.1, the first plant the chip maker built in the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Malta. The new TDC facility is expected to be the central location for GlobalFoundries global research and development efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
