Single-Game Tickets Now Available For The Adirondack Thunder’s 2018-19 Season

The Adirondack Thunder now has single-game tickets on sale for the upcoming season at Cool Insuring Arena. The home opener is Oct. 20 vs. the Brampton Beast.

The Adirondack Thunder announced that all single-game tickets are now available.

The team opens its home slate on Oct.  20 vs. the Brampton Beast at the Cool Insuring Arena.

Tickets for all 36 Thunder home games are available at the arena box office, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as online at coolinsuringarena.com.

The Thunder has also announced that Opening Night will feature the Stewart’s 4-Pack, the return of a successful mini-pack give-away. The Opening Night Stewart’s pack is priced at just $64 and includes: four opening night Adirondack Thunder tickets for the Oct. 20 game, four Adirondack Thunder water bottles, four games of bowling at Kingpin’s Alley in South Glens Falls and one $20 gift card for Stewart’s Shops.

Ray Energy Opens A Propane And Rail Truck Terminal In Hampton, Near Vermont Border

Ray Energy Corp. recently opened a new propane rail and truck terminal in Hampton, near the New York-Vermont border.

A formal opening with ribbon cutting and an open house was held on Aug. 23, but the company has been using the new facility since March.

The company, headquartered in Troy, serves nine states in the Northeast, plus areas in Canada, from a network of five rail terminals, nine pipeline terminals, and a marine terminal. They are termed a midstream wholesale propane supplier They neither produce gas nor sell it on the retail market.

The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association (BSBPA) announced additional vendors and entertainment for the 16th Annual The Way We Were car show to be held Sunday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m.  4 p.m. on Front Street in Ballston Spa. 

Rain date for the event is Sunday, Oct. 14.

Front Street in the village will be blocked off from Milton Avenue past the Old Iron Spring to accommodate car exhibits and vendors. In addition to the classic and specialty cars on display, there will be live music from Betsy & The ByeGons, a Kids’ Zone with bounce house and children’s activities, plus car related and other vendors. 

Food will be available throughout the show route from several restaurant, food truck and community organization vendors, including the Brickyard, MeMe’s Snack Shack, Spike’s Sauce, Ballston Spa Rotary and Ballston Spa Lions Club. Brookside Museum will hold demonstrations from local EMS teams on its lawn. The museum’s exhibits will be open to visitors.

Plug Power Moves Into Saratoga County With New Manufacturing Plant In Clifton Park

Plug Power Inc., a manufacturer of hydrogen-powered fuel cells based in Latham, opened a new manufacturing plant in Clifton Park in August. The new facility, at 620 Van Patten Drive, will supplement the company’s existing manufacturing plant in Latham. 

The company said the facility provides the expanded manufacturing capacity required for Plug Power products to meet the rapidly growing demands of the hydrogen fuel cell industry.

Plug Power is investing nearly $2.8 million over five years for the new 38,400-square-foot facility. Plug Power estimated that it will add 97 new jobs to its current roster of 650 employees. Because of the commitment to creating new jobs, Plug Power will receive nearly $640,000 in tax credits under the state’s Excelsior Job Program.

GlobalFoundries Stops Development Of New Microchips, Lays Off Workers In Malta

GlobalFoundries announced in late August that it is shifting its strategy and will cease development of cutting edge manufacturing technologies and stop all work on its 7LP (7 nm) fabrication processes. Instead, the company will focus on specialized process technologies for clients in emerging high-growth markets.

The change has resulted in layoffs. GlobalFoundries will eliminate 455 jobs at its Malta plant and another 31 based at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany, according to filings with the state Department of Labor.

The company employed about 3,400 people before the restructuring.

Second Highest All-Sources Handle Reported By NYRA For 2018 Saratoga Racing Season

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) aid the 2018 season at Saratoga Race Course concluded on Labor Day with the second highest all-sources handle in history, despite a summer meet that was inundated with more than 10 inches of rain.

Total all-sources handle generated during the meet was $659,083,459, in spite of the fact that 50 races were forced to be taken off the turf, nearly double the number from 2017 and almost as many as the prior two years combined, officials said. A total of 27 races were taken off the turf in 2017 and 25 in 2016.

On track handle for the 2018 Saratoga meet surpassed $148.8 million. Total paid attendance for the 2018 Saratoga meet was 1,124,149, marking the third consecutive season that paid attendance has exceeded 1.1 million fans.

The Lazy Dog Cookie Co. is about to expand their growing business into Canada.

Co-owner Amy Augustine began baking blissful bites for dogs of all shapes and sizes in 2001 from her and husband Keith’s home in northeastern Pennsylvania. The couple are lifelong dog lovers and Amy wanted to create treats that would be both delicious and healthy, right from her kitchen. 

She began bringing treats in for her co-workers’ pets and, according to her husband, the business just naturally began to grow.

Saratoga Hospital’s 36th Annual Gala At Saratoga Casino Hotel Raises Over $300,000

The Saratoga Hospital 36th Annual Gala held on Wednesday, August 1, raised $317,520. More than 1,000 people attended the summer event, enjoying this year’s theme of “Havana Nights,” with Cuban-inspired cuisine and lively Latin music under the tents at the Polo Meadow at Saratoga Casino Hotel.

 The annual gala is a major source of support for  Saratoga Community Health Center, which provides primary care, dental, behavioral health, and addiction medicine services to the community, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
