St. Peter’s Health Partners, along with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the opening of St. Peter’s Urgent Care – Saratoga Springs with a ribbon-cutting ceremony n Aug. 26.
The facility, located at 377 Church St. in the same building as St. Peter’s Primary Care, began serving patients on Aug. 13.
It is the sixth urgent care facility operated by St. Peter’s Health Partners.
Saratoga Casino and Hospitality Group has taken over full ownership of Ellis Park, a thoroughbred track and instant racing machine parlor in Henderson, Ky.
The sales transaction of Ellis Park to Saratoga Casino & Hospitality Group was complete and the group became the official new owners of the property on July 30, casino officials said.
“We’re very excited to own such an historic property,” said Daniel Gerrity, president of Saratoga Casino & Hospitality Group. “We look forward to learning even more about the Henderson and Evansville (Ky.) communities, and we’re eager to work toward our goal of delivering an experience that goes above and beyond guest expectations.”
Adworkshop, an integrated marketing agency headquartered in Lake Placid, has expanded into Saratoga Springs, with a new office near downtown to accommodate its growing client roster.
“My vision for the workshop is to expand beyond our current space near downtown as we continue to add new clients and demonstrate the practical application of emerging and new technology for our clients, such as virtual reality and 360-video,” said Adworkshop President Tim Kelleher.
The Saratoga Springs office, at 153 Regent St., Suite 1020, serves numerous verticals, including destination and tourism marketing, higher education, and financial institutions.

Hannaford is slated to open a Ballston Spa supermarket and pharmacy off Church Avenue at Route 67, bringing to 50 the number of its stores in New York state.
According to spokesperson Eric Blom, the Scarborough, Maine-based chain filed a site plan with the town Planning Board and is “hoping for speedy consideration.”
He said several locations were considered and a number of factors carefully researched before the company selected a site for the new build.
New York state has awarded $22.1 million in funding to Albany International Airport as part of a $42.1 million project to modernize the facility.
The grant funding is part of the $200 million Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition passed in the 2017 state budget.
To complement the state’s investment in Albany airport, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a $50 million project to construct a new highway connector between the airport and the Northway in the town of Colonie, to ease traffic congestion and provide a more direct route to the airport.
Dr. JoAnne McDonough of Round Lake is the new medical director of urgent care services at Malta Med Emergent Care.
The emergency medicine physician is assigned to Malta Med full time, treating patients and overseeing all medical care at the facility, officials said.
Although they were always available for consultation, previous medical directors also spent time providing care off site, officials noted. The change in coverage reflects increased demand at the 24/7 facility—and is the latest example of Malta Med’s responsiveness to patients and the community.

In 2006, The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that many diseases that were a direct result of nutritional deficiencies in populations had increasingly given way to chronic diseases related to dietary imbalances and poor nutritional habits.
At the time, the journal pointed to the need to focus on preventive approaches to healthcare that include assessments of nutritional intake on both the individual and the community levels.
Twelve years later, the need for proper nutritional balance and better dietary choices is more urgent than ever. A 2018 article in U.S. News & World Report stated that 39.6 percent of Americans over age 20 are considered to be obese. The figure is up nearly six percent from 2008.

Hudson Headwaters Health Network plans to break ground this fall for a new, larger, family medical center in Moreau, about a mile from the existing Moreau facility.
The new medical center will be built on 5.1 acres of land Hudson Headwaters purchased last June at 1299 Route 9 and 34 Fawn Road, close to the Northway.
Plans call for a 24,000-square-foot facility, most of which will be occupied by Hudson Headwaters. There will be 18 examination rooms, two procedure rooms, a health behavior room, and space for care management and nutrition, officials said.
The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce is set to host the 2018 Saratoga County Business-to-Business Expo on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
The event will start at 3:30 p.m. for members and vendors and at 5 p.m. for non-members. It will conclude at 7 p.m. Non-members pay a $5 fee,

The quest for healthier, cozier homes is driving residential interior design trends, say two Saratoga-based professionals.
“The move to more natural, organic materials is driven largely by health concerns, just like food trends,“ said Shelly Walker, owner of Finishing Touches Home Decor in Wilton. “We are using more stone, copper, concrete, bamboo and wood in residences now, along with non-toxic organic fabrics. Parents don’t want their children exposed to toxins and gasses.”
