The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership will work with the Town of Galway to create an economic development plan specifically tailored to the town’s current needs and future aspirations.
Officials said the collaboration is part of the Saratoga Partnership’s Next Wave Communities initiative, which assists local towns within Saratoga County in developing customized economic development plans.
State Opens Annual Competition For Grant Money For Community Development Projects
New York state has launched Round IX of the Regional Economic Development Council initiative, officially kicking off the 2019 competition for more than $750 million in state economic development resources.
The Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) is open to applicants, enabling businesses, municipalities, nonprofits and the public to begin applying for assistance from dozens of state programs, through a single application, for job-creation and community development projects.
Plaza 15 Self Storage In Saratoga Springs Adds More Than 500 Climate-Controlled Units

Plaza 15 Self Storage on Gick Road in Saratoga Springs recently opened a new section with more than 500 climate-controlled units.
The expansion brings their total storage space to 1,357 units. All but 700 of those are climate-controlled.
Mary Ann Debounaventura-Lawrence, facility manager, cited a growing demand for climate-controlled storage space. Previously, the facility had only 125 climate-controlled units and “we needed more,” she said.

Panza’s New Restaurant On South Broadway Unveiled; Includes An Upper Music Lounge
Local brothers Tony and Michael Panza opened on May 2 their restaurant at the new location at 129 South Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
They’ teamed up with capital region builder Chris Marchand to restore the former Trade Winds restaurant to house Panza’s Broadway Saratoga.
Ribbon Cutting Event Held To Celebrate 50 Years In Business For Roohan Realty Group
Roohan Realty celebrated its 50th anniversary with friends, family and associates with a Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony in April.
The event was held outside its 519 Broadway offices.
The company was founded by the late John T. Roohan in 1969. His son, Tom Roohan, earned his real estate license in 1979 and currently serves as president.
Saratoga Plan Preserves Buckley Farm Land; Owner Opens Cafe House And Butcher Shop
Saratoga PLAN finalized a second easement on Wm. H. Buckley Farm, a working farm situated on a picturesque ridge overlooking Ballston Lake, on Route 50 in the Town of Ballston.
The closing added 63 acres to the 252 acres conserved in 2015, for a total of 315 acres that will be protected for agricultural uses in perpetuity.
David O’Rourke Becomes New President And CEO Of The New York Racing Association
The New York Racing Association (NYRA) board of directors has unanimously appointed David O’Rourke as NYRA CEO and president.
O’Rourke had been serving as interim CEO since Jan. 23 following the resignation of Chris Kay.
“David has made significant and lasting contributions to NYRA since he joined the organization more than a decade ago,” said NYRA board chairman Michael Del Giudice. “He possesses broad expertise in nearly every facet of the industry, enjoys deep respect among his NYRA colleagues and industry peers, and understands how the sport and the business will continue to evolve in the future. His combination of skills and obvious leadership ability made this an easy choice and we congratulate David on this appointment.”
O’Rourke, 45, first joined NYRA as director of financial planning in 2008 before becoming vice president for corporate development in 2010. In 2013, he was appointed chief revenue officer and senior vice president. In that role, O’Rourke was responsible for NYRA’s business development strategies across a range of disciplines including industry relations, simulcast markets and contracts, television strategy, advance deposit wagering (ADW) operations, and capital projects.
Software Research Development Company Kitware Opens Clifton Park Headquarters
Kitware has opened its new corporate headquarters at 1712 Route 9, Suite 300, in Clifton Park, coinciding with the 21st anniversary of the company’s incorporation.
Kitware is a Capital Region-based software research and development company that relocated from Halfmoon to a larger facility that supports current and future growth. A formal opening was held in March.
