Only about 40 percent of adults in America have a will, which may not be entirely surprising. No one wants to be reminded of their own mortality or spend too much time thinking about what might happen once they’re gone.
Many people are uncomfortable discussing how they will distribute their estate with their children. Perhaps you don’t want your children to realize how much they may receive after your death. Or you may think your choice of heirs could change in the future.
AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins recently opened the first of many AARP-branded fitness parks that the organization will donate to local communities to commemorate AARP’s 60th anniversary.
Over the next three years, AARP intends to work with national nonprofit FitLotTM to build parks in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The parks feature stationary equipment that can be adapted to meet a wide range of fitness levels and abilities.

Major music and entertainment venues these days must come up with creative ways to meet their annual budgets and remain a vibrant segment of the community.
They investigate many funding sources, and among them is working with corporations, offering them ticket, benefit and advertising packages that are a boon for both the companies involved and venues like Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Cool Insuring Arena.
Another major company, Live Nation, also uses corporate packages. VIP packages are a popular sponsorship choice for corporate partners, said Chris Perez, marketer of venue sales at Live Nation, who works out of the Saratoga office.

In many personal injury cases, the award of damages often centers on the calculation of the loss of future earnings. The loss of future earnings is awarded where the jury finds that a plaintiff has suffered a reduction in his or her ability to earn money because of an injury.
The jury is typically instructed to consider the loss of future earnings based on a variety of factors, including the plaintiff’s earnings before the accident, opportunities for promotions and work-life expectancy.
Meg Benke has been named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at SUNY Empire State College.
Benke, of Saratoga Springs, first joined the college in 1991, and previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs, 2011-12, as a member of the faculty and a department chair with the college’s School for Graduate Studies. Most recently she has been serving as provost on an interim basis.
She is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise in individualized learning, educating adult students, online learning, and as an award-winning scholar.
Benke held several leadership positions with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, an accrediting organization that assures academic quality and integrity in higher education.
Saratoga Hospital is the recipient of the Mission: Lifeline Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.
The Adirondack Thunder has announced the schedule for the 2019-20 season.
Spanning 72 regular season games, the Thunder will take on 12 different opponents, and face three teams that they have yet to see in their four previous seasons as a member of the ECHL.
The board of directors of the Malta Business and Professional Association has voted to accept a consolidation offer from the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County and recommend integration into that Chamber, effective Jan. 1.

The Night Owl, a new cocktail and dance concept, is slated to open in downtown Saratoga Springs at 17 Maple Ave. in early October.
After two and a half years, the Sinclair Saratoga has sold to Matt Pedersen, who will oversee the new club.
The Sinclair will remain open for the remainder of the summer. The property will begin the changeover process after Labor Day weekend and will continue to be open through the remodel phase.
