JoAnne Swapp and Matthew Swapp, business partners and former marital partners, are the new owners of The Wine Exchange in Ballston Lake. While they are new owners, it is an old business that was family-owned for 27 years explained JoAnne Swapp
In addition to a selection of 42,000 wines, the shop features a bourbon collection “from all over.” Not all of the wines are in stock, JoAnne noted, but they are available in a day or two from their distributors. Their top sellers, however, are the bourbons. Many wine buyers favor French-style white wines.
In addition to sales at the brick-and-mortar store at 43 Round Lake Road, the Exchange sells online. Their website is saratogawine.com.
Matthew worked at the Wine Exchange for 20 years. JoAnne was an engineering officer in the U.S. Navy for 22 years stationed in the Saratoga area. They now supervise a crew of 25 employees.
The store was well-maintained and needed very few changes, JoAnne said.
The Wine Exchange is open seven days a week, afternoons and evenings. They serve pub-style food and beer and have activities including live music, pool and games. Seven television sets broadcast Sunday football.
