US Light Energy, a solar energy company specializing in the development of solar electric and community solar systems, is constructing a solar park in Clifton Park.
The Sugar Hill Solar Farm, on 40 acres of land on the Sugar-Hill/Sugar-View Farm on Sugar Hill Road, will be the first community solar farm developed in Clifton Park, according to the company.
The 7-megawatt (MW), ground-mounted solar project will encompass nearly 20,000 solar modules. Officials said when fully operational later this year, it is expected to produce more than 8.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually—enough electricity to power up to 600 homes and businesses.
SEDC Strategic Partnership With Cadence Design Systems To Boost Its SPARK Program
Saratoga Economic Development Corp. (SEDC) on June 28 announced the next step in their initiative to empower leading-edge integrated circuit and electronic system design in Saratoga County and the Capital Region.
This industry cluster, to be supported by SEDC’s SPARK Saratoga accelerator and the Electronic Design and Innovation Initiative (EDI2 Saratoga), announced a new strategic partnership with Cadence Design Systems Inc.
Nine Builders Will Participate In Showcase Of Homes On Three Weekends In September
The 2019 Saratoga Showcase of Homes Committee announced its line-up builders the annual event that will take place on the fall weekends of September 14-15, Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29.
The award-winning builders committed to this year’s event are: BDG Group, Bella Home Builders, Belmonte Builders, Bonacio Construction, Degraff-Bloom Custom Builders, Heritage Custom Builders, Kodiak Construction, La Femme Home Builders, and Witt Construction.
There will also be a “tiny house” on display, premiering at this year’s Showcase of Homes.
Tickets to visit all these homes remains at $20.
Peter Benyon Is Named General Manager Of GlobalFoundries Chip Fab Plant In Malta
Peter Benyon has been named the new general manager for the GlobalFoundries plant in Malta. He will become the facility’s fifth general manager, effective on July 1.
Benyon currently serves as vice president and general manager of GlobalFoundries’ Fab 7 plant in Singapore. He will report to Ron Sampson, who will remain based in Malta, Saratoga County, and will continue to lead the company’s U.S. manufacturing operations.
Expanding its leadership team in Saratoga County is the latest step CEO Tom Caulfield is taking since the company shifted its strategy last August. GlobalFoundries halted its efforts to develop next-generation 7-nanometer chips in favor of focusing on innovations of existing technology to appeal to a larger market with more customers.
Pet Lodge Facility On Route 9 In Saratoga Springs Opens; Daycare Enrollment Is Open
The Pet Lodge of Saratoga has opened and is offering open enrollment for their doggie daycare program.
The Pet Lodge also provides boarding for dogs and cats, grooming and obedience training.
Located at 3320 Route 9, Saratoga Springs, it is the fourth Pet Lodge in the Capital Region Other stores are in Clifton Park, Latham and Glenville.
Galway Rock Vineyard And Winery Opens A New Tasting Room At Its Site In Balllston Lake

Galway Rock Vineyard and Winery in Ballston Lake opened a new tasting room in June.
About 300 people attended, according to Kate Taylor, one of the owners of the business.
The winery was started in 2014 in Taylor’s parents’ garage in Galway. At the time, it was only a production facility. The wines were sold at liquor stores and farmers’ markets. Taylor and her husband, Ryan Taylor, and her father, Vincent Soldani Jr., started the business and still operate it.
County, SEDC, Prosperity Partnership Work Out Cooperative Economic Development Plan
The Economic Development Committee of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors has approved the establishment of a new framework for economic development efforts in Saratoga County on a bipartisan basis.
The framework brings the efforts of two economic development organizations—the longstanding Saratoga Economic Development Corp. (SEDC) and the Saratoga Prosperity Partnership (SCPP)—into alignment, each with specific duties.
Summit Clothing Co. In Downtown Saratoga Offers T-Shirts, Hoodies; Donates To Charity

In a shop on the lower level of the Saratoga Marketplace on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, Liam Rice sells simple clothing with a lofty purpose.
The shop, Summit Clothing Co., has T-shirts, hoodies and caps and donates 10 percent of all receipts and a portion of monthly profits to The Giving Circle, a Saratoga Springs charity that helps young people in Uganda and other parts of world.

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) Saratoga Summer Trolley is back for the season.
The service runs through Labor Day, Sept. 2, and operates free of charge, seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. through Monday.
The trolley schedule offers streamlined service to hotels and key attractions along Broadway in Downtown Saratoga, including the historic Saratoga Race Course along with Saratoga Casino and Hotel.

Saratoga Casino And Hospitality Group Sells Ellis Park Race Track And Gaming Facility
Saratoga Casino and Hospitality Group, which purchased Ellis Park racetrack in Henderson, Ky., last summer is selling the park for $11 million.
The sale was started after Ellis Park received regulatory approval to offer thoroughbred racing and historical gaming. A subsidiary of Laguna Development Corp. of Albuquerque, N.M., is buying the facility.
