Roohan Realty celebrated its 50th anniversary with friends, family and associates with a Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony in April.
The event was held outside its 519 Broadway offices.
The company was founded by the late John T. Roohan in 1969. His son, Tom Roohan, earned his real estate license in 1979 and currently serves as president.
Roohan was named 2018 Realtor of the Year by the Greater Capital Region Association of Realtors (GCAR).
He was also presented with the 2019 Joseph Dalton Community Service Award by the Chamber, becoming just the second person to win the award.
The first Roohan Realty office was established at Union Avenue, then moved to Court Street with a handful of employees. After a few years, the office was moved into the historic district at 48 Union Ave. In 1996, with over 25 real estate agents, the office was moved to 398 Broadway.
In 2002, the Roohan Realty team moved to a larger space at 519 Broadway, a historic downtown building that used to be the city’s community theater.
In the early 1970s, the Roohan Realty team primarily focused on single-family homes, according to the company history. It now specializes in residential, commercial, new construction, and equine properties.
The company serves eight counties across upstate New York’s Capital Region.
Roohan Realty has over 50 real estate associates and professionals on staff.
