Rebuilding Together Saratoga County has received $25,000 in support from the Adirondack Trust Co. toward their Together We Transform Capital Campaign.
Rebuilding Together launched this campaign in 2017 with the goal of raising $750,000 over three years in order to purchase and renovate 132 Milton Ave. in Ballston Spa. This building provides permanent office and warehouse space, along with the ability to support the organization’s operations with the opening of The Store at Rebuilding Together Saratoga County.
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County’s mission is repairing homes, revitalizing communities and rebuilding lives. Its vision is safe homes and communities for everyone. Since their founding in 2003, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County has renovated and revitalized 973 homes and 85 nonprofit centers with the help of more than 9,300 volunteers who have dedicated 56,500 hours of their time.

The Saratoga Heritage Area Visitor Center, in partnership with Upstate Transit of Saratoga, will conduct two-hour Historic Saratoga driving tours through Aug. 30.
The tour includes historic sights and points of interest along Broadway, North Broadway, the Skidmore campus, the High Rock area, the Saratoga Casino Hotel, Saratoga Race Course, Union Avenue, Saratoga Spa State Park, and more. Upstate Transit of Saratoga uses its trolley-style buses or the tours.
They are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays Tuesday tours will take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Thursday tours take place at 10 a.m.
All tours run rain or shine, and meet at the Saratoga Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway.
The cost is $20 per person and advanced reservations can be made by phone or in person at the Saratoga Heritage Area Visitor Center. Day-of tickets, based on availability, can be purchased at the Visitor Center.

The Adirondack Trust Co. Community Fund will continue to accept grant applications from eligible nonprofit charities until the submission deadline of August 31.
The fund was established in 2009 and gives yearly Lend-a-Hand grants to nonprofit groups in the area. In 2017, the it allocated $52,217 in grants, which funded local nonprofit organizations’ programs in such diverse areas as mental health services, homelessness prevention, youth services and the arts.

Recipients will be announced by the fund’s independent advisory committee in December. The fund welcomes nonprofit organizations to apply for grants that represent new and creative programs.
Over the past seven years, the fund has provided 130 grants in excess of $245,000 in Lend-A-Hand Grants.

Tickets are available for the Civil War Weekend, a fundraiser for The Friends of the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage, which will be held on Aug. 11 and 12 at D.A. Collins’ Ballard Road property in Wilton.
This official bicentennial celebration event of the town of Wilton will include dozens of Civil War era re-enactors. Camp life, infantry, artillery, cavalry drills, battles, and firing demonstrations will bring the period to life. The Iron Jacks, 77th NY Regimental Balladeers, and Veterans in the New Field will provide musical performances during the weekend.
There will be children’s activities, book signings, military artifact displays, food and vendors.
Admission is $10 each day for ages 13 and up; entry is free for children 12 and under and active duty military with ID cards. Paid tickets include a complimentary admission pass to Grant Cottage for use during the 2018 season. Tickets may be purchased at www.grantcottage.org.

The Patient Experience Project (PEP), a full-service, patient-centric marketing and communications agency based in Saratoga Springs, presented two recent high school graduates with its “Above & Beyond Scholarship,” given to outstanding students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, exemplary leadership, and community involvement.
Hannah Hertik and Peyton Yourch, both Saratoga Springs High School graduates, are this year’s recipients. Each student received a $1,500 scholarship. Hertik will attend the SUNY Oswego in the fall, where she plans to study human development with a focus on children. Yourch will attend Pace University in New York City, where she hopes to major in peace and justice studies.
This is the second year that PEP has awarded the Above & Beyond Scholarships to local students.

Area golfers will be able to support domestic violence prevention programs by teeing off at the Golf Scramble to Support Domestic Violence Awareness on Sept. 29 at the Fairways at Halfmoon.
The 18-hole scramble will start at 10 a.m. and will feature prizes for shots closest to the pin, the longest drive, a putting contest and low team cores (net and gross). In addition, a car donated by Jack Byrne Ford will be the prize for anyone scoring a hole-in-one on a specific hole.
Golfers will be treated to lunch at the turn, free beverages, a buffet dinner, and a cart for the day. Donations are $110 for individuals and $440 per foursome.
