Apex Solar Power, a Queensbury-based company that installs solar power systems through the region, has launched a new division of the company: Apex Roofing.
The addition of a roof-focused division came about as a solution for home and business owners who have expressed interest in solar power, but would require a new roof to have the installation completed on their property, the company said.
“Most solar installations are performed on rooftops, so adding a roofing service provides our customers with a simple solution to complete both projects for their home,” said Stan Dobert, president of Apex Solar Power.
Apex is an Owens Corning preferred contractor, and the members of the roofing division have over 40 years of combined experience working with asphalt shingle, metal, and rubber roofing materials, the company said.
“This experience and designation is important, as roofs are a vital component to any home. Additionally, with a new roof comes a new warranty against defects, and as an added benefit a solar panel installation will not void an existing or new roof warranty,” the company said in a statement.
Over the past six months they have completed dozens of roof installations, with many more scheduled. Nick Disarro is leading the new roofing division for Apex Solar, and sees it as a welcome offering for homeowners who have been putting off replacing their roof.
“Many times people are unsure of where to start when it comes to getting a new roof. We wanted to take the same professional experience that we give our solar customers and apply it to roofing,” he said.
The company does residential and commercial roof replacement and installation. The products they use, the company said, are Owens Corning duration shingles, corrugated and standing seam roofing, and thermoplastic and rubber flat roofing.
Apex Roofing also provides assistance with insurance claims, extended warranties and project financing.
