The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association (BSBPA) will host its 2018 community mixer and annual meeting on Monday, March 19, at the Next Door Kitchen & Bar, 51 Front St.
The event will celebrate the association’s 35 years of service to the Ballston Spa community. With the support of its members, the BSBPA promotes local businesses and organizations, presents events and activities that bring people to Ballston Spa, and helps beautify and enhance the downtown village through gardens, plantings, directory signs and more.
The event is an opportunity for BSBPA members and non-members to review the events and accomplishments of 2017 and preview what is planned for the coming year. The association will also honor outgoing board members and welcome new ones.
The evening will begin with a social hour and buffet at 6 p.m., followed by the official meeting at 7 p.m.

Spring class registration at the Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) continues through mid-April.
Over 15 of 26 classes are still open, including several lecture series. Most classes start the week of April 9 and run through the week of June 4. Registration and membership application packets can be found in area libraries, the Academy office at 111 West Ave. in Saratoga Springs or online at www.esc.edu/all.

The open classes cover a wide range of subjects including genealogy, Hollywood, antiques, painting, economics, self-awareness, birding, health, foreign cultures, photography, writing, hiking, Italian, authors’ works, and local history. Classes typically meet for two hours once a week, for four to eight weeks. Most classes are held in SUNY Empire State College classrooms at 113 West Ave. in Saratoga Springs.

The Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild is offering five $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors in the greater Saratoga County area interested in pursuing healthcare careers.
Eligible graduates may be exploring a broad range of medical careers: pre-med, nursing, bio-medical research, pharmacology, medical imaging, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, physician’s assistant, mental health, and health care management.
Students must be entering college in September, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and a documented record of community service. Application deadline is April 2.
Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Volunteer Guild’s annual recognition dinner on May 10.

DeCrescente Distributing Co. of Mechanicville announced a partnership to distribute Fiddlehead Brewing Co. of Shelburne, Vt.
For the first time Fiddlehead will be available in New York state beginning on Feb. 19, the company said. The two companies kicked off their relationship when Fiddlehead Owner/Brewmaster Matt Cohen came to New York to lead an educational brewing session on DeCrescente’s in-house brewing system on Jan. 25.
