ABC Equipment and Restaurant Supplies has moved to South Glens Falls. Owner Fred Alexy said while they loved their time in downtown Glens Falls, on Elm Street, the growth of the business warranted the relocation.
The business supplies kitchens with specialized items such as commercial ovens and coolers and deep fryers. Over the past several years the wholesale side of the business experienced growth. While they still have a retail side, Alexy said it came to a point where they were running out of space to accommodate inventory. The new location in Midtown Plaza spot gives the business two additional loading docks, and other additional space.
The address is 25 Fairview St., South Glens Falls.
“We were basically outgrowing the space, with the business 90 percent wholesale and 10 percent retail. With the efficiencies in the new building, we decided to make the move. It is at least three times more energy efficient. I hated to leave downtown Glens Falls, but we had to make the move,” said Alexy.
Alexy said he is in the process of turning the business over to T.J. Deming, who will be owner and operator when Alexy officially retires within the next month. He said he is ready to hand it over and enjoy the next phase of his life.
“The next generation is ready to take over. My future is in skiing and enjoying life in the Adirondacks. It’s a great future, “said Alexy.
Deming said the new space is better fit for the direction of the business.
“The space is exciting for the business. The original location was more conducive to retail, and we are really focusing on wholesale. Our new spot has more of a warehouse setting and as the business changed and grew, we outgrew the space. This just makes more sense,” said Deming.
Deming said they currently have four full-time employees and plan to add six to eight over the summer.
ABC Restaurant Equipment and Supplies has been in business for 50 years, providing new and used equipment. They partner with restaurants in Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties.
