The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association will hold a networking breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, hosted by Rebuilding Together Saratoga County at 132 Milton Ave. in Ballston Spa.
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County partners with volunteers year round to help homeowners in need live independently in safe and healthy homes and build healthy neighborhoods through their programs. Its resale shop in Ballston Spa sells donated items at a fraction of the cost and all proceeds are used to provide home repairs for veterans, seniors, individuals living with disabilities and families in need.
Cost for the breakfast is $5 with advance reservation—prepayment available at www.ballston.org—or RSVP to info@ballston.org and pay at the door. Non-reserved walk-ins pay $10.
Business and community members are welcome. They need not be a BSBPA member to attend this event.

The Saratoga Builders Association Inc. board of directors announced that David Trojanski of Bonacio Construction was elected president.
He will serve a two-year term through 2019.
Also elected were David DePaulo of Bella Home Builders, first vice president; Doug Ford of Curtis Lumber, second vice president; Jeff Pietrosanto of Pietrosanto Insurance, treasurer; Mark Johnson of DeGraff-Bloom Custom Builders, secretary; and Wayne Samascott of Malta Development, immediate past president.

A startup businesses from Saratoga Springs was among the winners of awards totaling $20,000 in the recent Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Commercialization Academy’s Demo Day competition.
Selected for presenting the top business pitches based on AFRL-related technology during the event at the Griffiss Institute in Rome was Let’s Chat About It of Saratoga Springs. The company won $5,000 based on an audience vote. It was founded by Garrison Grant, and is a wellness support platform and online community for those struggling with mental health and substance abuse.
The platform is to build a community to share, support and gain confidence to combat substance abuse and improve overall mental health.
The Commercialization Academy is a Griffiss Institute entrepreneurial education program sponsored by the Rome AFRL.

The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association and the First Friday business participants will present the fifth annual Ballston Spa Chocolate Fest on First Friday, February 2, from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Ballston Spa.
Local restaurants, bakeries and Chocolate chefs from across Saratoga County are welcome to compete by preparing small, sample-sized chocolate offerings in one, some or all of three categories: sweet chocolate desserts, savory chocolate dishes, and chocolate beverages.
These chocolates will be judged by a panel, as well as the public in a fan-favorite competition. Visitors will be able to sample the various chocolate offerings at designated “sweet spots” throughout the village. Samples are a minimal cost of $1.
Winning chocolate chefs will be awarded with advertising and a trophy.
