Feigenbaum Cleaners has moved to a new location. Its downtown Saratoga Springs store is now at 18 Congress St., on the corner of Congress and Hamilton Streets.
Previously they were located on Railroad Place, in between Price Chopper and Bowtie Cinemas. This proved to be a challenging site for the store, because there was little parking available, according to ownership.
“Convenience is the number one thing for our customers,” said Todd Feigenbaum, president of the company.
The new location will offer much more parking for customers.
“There is plenty of parking,” he said. “People can park right at the door and come in. This is much easier for people who have their hands full of clothes.”
It is located near businesses such as the Colwell Computers LLC, the Saratoga Visitors Center, Wendy’s, FedEx and CVS.
A grand opening ceremony was held in early October.
The company believes that this relocation will be helpful for their customers, and allow them to create a more pleasurable, customer service friendly experience.
Feigenbaum Cleaners operates four locations in total: their original plant in downtown Glens Falls, a Queensbury location at Quaker Plaza; and another location at Wilton Square in Wilton.
Feigenbaum Cleaners is part of the Green Cleaners Council. It utilizes System K4, an ecofriendly, biodegradable dry cleaning service.
The staff at Feigenbaum is equipped to clean just about any material including leather, suede and furs. Items damaged by smoke or fire can cleaned and restored. Customers bring in comforters, bedspreads, cushions, area rugs, and other home items for cleaning.
Staff is also able to do garment alterations and the business also does shoe repairs.
Feigenbaum Cleaners provides free pickup and delivery.
Feigenbaum Cleaners, one of the oldest dry cleaning businesses in New York state, celebrated its centennial anniversary this year. The company was started in Glens Falls in 1917 by Herman Feigenbaum and his wife Jennie, both emigrants from Austria-Hungary.
“I really don’t think that my grandparents would have guessed that we would be here 100 years later,” said Feigenbaum. He said it was never his plan to be part of the company. He worked in public policy and education for several years. During the 1980s, he was working for the New York State Legislature.
Feigenbaum said great customer service is the key to what they do.
“Our goal is to have customers that walk out of here and say ‘That was the best customer service experience I have had.’ People spend a lot of money on their clothes. It is an investment. We are here to help you look your best and to protect your investment.”
“It’s not like getting your hair done, where people really look forward to it. It’s a chore. You have to do it. But we want to make it as fun, as pleasurable, as easy and convenient as possible.”
The downtown Saratoga Springs location is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and closed on Sunday. For more information, visit feigenbaumcleaners.com or call 518-587-5619.
