Saratoga native Brandon Bogardus is adding his name to the roster of local of financial advisors under the Edward Jones Financial umbrella.
A 2012 graduate of Saratoga High School, Bogardus will officially be an Edward Jones advisor early next year, after completing an intense training course that will allow him to offer a variety of financial planning tools to area residents.
Bogardus said the business will focus on five specific client needs; preparing for retirement, living in retirement, paying for education, planning an estate and preparing for the unexpected.
“Upon getting to know the client, their risk tolerance, time horizon and specific situation, we can propose various account types and investments that will help them achieve their goals,” said Bogardus.
He said coming back to Saratoga, after graduating from the University of Rochester, was something he knew he wanted to do early on. He met a lot of mentors and influential figures in his hometown and always felt connected and motivated to give back to the community.
“From a young age, I have always been extremely passionate and competitive which has helped me get to where I am today. I attended the University of Rochester where I played football, which I attribute a lot of my work ethic to. Being a leader on a team has helped me grow as an individual and value traits such has never giving up, working as a team and trying to be an example for others,” said Bogardus.
A passion for finance is something that Bogardus said he developed years ago. He said while studying financial economics in college he began to focus on the importance of giving back to the community and how his career choice could tie in with that desire.
After much research, “I narrowed down where I wanted to work to one specific company, which was Edward Jones.” After graduating college in May, he started a career with Edward Jones and is “currently working my way through the top training program in the country so that I can open my very own branch office in Saratoga Springs and begin to give back to a community that means so much to me.”
“My parents always put themselves on the back burner to focus on my brother and me. This is also where a lot of my passion stems from in choosing a career like this. It would mean the world to me to be able to help families similar to mine achieve their long-term goals or help make sure their child can attend the college of their dreams while making sure the parents are well taken care of as well. Being able to make a difference in any business, family, or individual’s life is the reason I got into this kind of business and it is what keeps me motivated,” said Bogardus.
Currently Bogardus is in St. Louis, where he is busy completing his training. He hopes to have his Saratoga office up and running by March of 2017.
