This holiday season, people can eat, drink and be merry and be able to summon a professional driver to get them and their car safely home.

Two new companies, both owned by former taxicab drivers, provide that service.

People don’t have to be drunk to order up a driver. Amanda Putnam of Saratoga Designated Car Service recalls being called to take someone home from her doctor’s office after an unexpected medical procedure made driving unwise.

CPAs in public accounting firms do their fair share of yearend tax planning services. The past several years, have been particularly challenging due to Congress not acting on the Bush-era and other “tax extenders” until so late in the year, most tax planning was already completed.

Things are going well at a new Crossfit gym that opened in Saratoga Springs on Sept. 1, according to co-owner Kevin Ostrander.

The gym, called Crossfit 12866, is located at 30 Gick Road. It offers an extensive Olympic-style weightlifting program in addition to classes in Crossfit strength and conditioning exercises.
