The owner of the Epiphany of Hair Salon on Doubleday Avenue in Ballston Spa has expanded, opening a second location in Glens Falls.
James Joseph has opened Epiphany North Hair Design at 8 Maple St.
“I wanted to come up north to share my knowledge, share my vision,” said Joseph. “There’s an authentic feel here in Glens Falls. Businesses here support each other. Everybody has been very welcoming.”
Epiphany North Hair Design offers such services as hair cutting and styling for women, men and children; blow dry styling; hair extensions; hair coloring services such as permanent color, highlights and lowlights, balayage and ombre; permanent waves and Arrojo American waves; DevaCurl hair design; eyebrow, chin and lip waxing; manicures and pedicures; and makeup application.
The DevaCurl hair styling process is specially designed for women with wavy or curly hair. Joseph said that approximately 65 percent of women have wavy to curly hair. Using this dry-styling process, he is able to achieve the perfect look for customers, he said. Each DevaCurl requires a consultation, during which the stylist decides the exact approach to take.
At Epiphany North, hair designers specialize in giving a superior hair experience that guests will not find in most other salons, Joseph said.
“It’s like a cup of coffee. Sure, you can get a cup of coffee from anywhere, but there will always be that one barista who knows exactly how to make coffee exactly the way you like it,” he said.
After graduating from SUNY Albany in 2004 with a degree in human biology, Joseph went on to pursue his cosmetology license at Orlo School of Hair Design. In 2009, he opened his shop in Ballston Spa.
Joseph has trained as a Redken specialist. He is a texture specialist with DevaCurl training and also focuses on L’ANZA color correction processes.
Epiphany North Hair Design also provides services for weddings and other events, styling hair for brides and bridesmaids, and doing wedding day makeup. This can be done in the salon or on location.
Since opening in August, Joseph said business has been good.
“We’re going to set the bar for the hair industry in this area,” he said.
Epiphany North Hair Design is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The salon is closed Sundays.
Walk-ins are accepted. Guests may also schedule an appointment by calling the salon or visiting the website.
