People looking for an authentic New England seafood experience do not have to drive to the ocean. It can be found in Saratoga Springs at Eddie F’s Deli & More, opened by Ed Fazzone and his wife Lisa .
The business is located at 119 Clinton St. in the building locals have commonly referred to as “the pink store.”
The Fazzones are originally from Schenectady, but have spent the past 14 years living in Venice, Fla. There they ran A Bit of Boston, an eatery specializing in Atlantic seafood.
The business opened in September.
“We’re from the area, so we wanted to have a place up here,” said Fazzone. “We want to keep the Saratoga store open up here. Because the Florida store is more seasonal, eventually we want to close the Florida place.”
At Eddie F’s Deli & More, Fazzone does the majority of the cooking.
Some of the items on the menu include fish fry, fish and chips, seafood pasta, lobster rolls, and whole-belly clams. His lobster macaroni and cheese is one of the bestselling items on the menu, he said, but he does a variety of macaroni-and-cheese dishes, including chicken, bacon, and steak.
The restaurant also sells a variety of hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, chicken wings, hot and cold sandwiches. All sandwiches are crafted with Boar’s Head meats.
Lunch specials are offered Monday through Thursday. Hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, and seafood rolls are available with coleslaw and French fries.
Eddie F’s Deli & More also has a daily pizza and soda special every day during the lunch hour. Fazzone also has soup and chowder specials every day, such as a New England and Manhattan clam chowder.
There is limited seating. Mainly customers order take out, he sad. There is also delivery available.
The store also sells some convenience store items, such as eggs and milk.
Since opening in September, the restaurant staff has received lots of positive feedback, and “we’ve been doing a lot of repeat business so far,” said Fazzone.
Eddie F’s Deli & More is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The store is closed on Sundays.
