Brandon and Brianne Dingeman of Stillwater have launched a company called the Empire Crate.
The couple has developed a way for people to enjoy a variety of New York state products every month by having them delivered to their doorstep.
The owners said they scoured the entire state researching possible products they could access. Their focus was on “canvassing the multitude of talented, motivated artisans within the state’s borders, sampling their products and then choosing the cream of the crop to present to you,” they said in a news release.
The Dingemans developed the concept for The Empire Crate while living in Astoria, Queens.
"We've been collecting outstanding edibles from our travels across New York State and are extremely excited to share these unique finds with our customers," said Brandon Dingeman. "These small-batch, handmade products are outstanding and will impress you enough that you'll find yourself talking about them around the water cooler at work."
Between them, the Dingemans have lived at no less than 18 different addresses within New York state over the years. They discovered all kinds of food in their travels and thought about how great it would be to hand-select those products to share with people in New York state and across the country.
"I've especially enjoyed getting to know the talented artisans behind these exceptional products," said Brianne Dingeman. "I've been sincerely touched by their warm, friendly stories of what inspired them to create their own businesses and the pride they take in their craft."
For a set price every month, the Empire Crate offers subscribers a box filled with a surprise variety of hand-selected food products from cities and towns across the state. Subscribers have a choice of month-to-month or three-month/six-month prepay options. Once subscribers are introduced to products they become available for direct purchase through the website's online Empire Shop.
The process is designed for New Yorkers who reside out of state and find themselves missing home or those interested in experiencing what New York has to offer. It also offers a convenient way to send sentimental care packages and thank you presents.
