Spa Garment Care, a dry cleaning company that has been providing valet services throughout Saratoga County for eight years, recently opened a retail drop-off store in The Hamlet in Fresh Market Plaza.
For owner Tom Nigro, who has been in the dry cleaning business for 20 years, this is the company’s first retail location. Its main cleaning facility is located in Clifton Park.
Opening the store was the next step in the process for Nigro’s business and something that he has wanted to do for a long time.
“While our valet services are still doing extremely well, in order to grow a business, you have to have a storefront,” he said.
After doing his research and looking at market studies for the area, he realized there would be "no better place to open a retail drop-off store than here," said Nigro.
He added that the foot and automobile traffic generated by Fresh Market and surrounding stores, combined with all of the residential construction going on in the surrounding area, make it an ideal location for his business.
"There are young professionals, retired people, people who travel a lot, who don't want to go across town to drop off their cleaning," he said.
The company said there quick turn-around times for dry cleaning, even offering same-day service if needed. Nigro said his company prides itself on doing premium quality work and will clean a garment as many times as it takes to deliver the best service possible.
In addition to dry cleaning, Spa Garment Care offers shoe repair, laundry services, leather and suede cleaning, rug cleaning, tailoring, and fur cleaning and storage. They also clean and preserve wedding dresses for storage.
Nigro said not all wedding dresses come to them after the wedding. "Many people like us to clean their wedding gowns, tuxedos, or bridesmaid's dresses before the big day."
He also noted it is difficult to find a shoe repair shop these days. For people who buy high-quality footwear, it is important for them to have a convenient place to leave their shoes and boots for cleaning and repair. Nigro is enthusiastic about having this particular service to offer people and he is confident that it will grow rapidly.
