Sherry Hoffman cut the ribbon in August on the new home of her Ballston Spa State Farm Insurance agency at 415 Geyser Road.
The actual move took place earlier in the year but, she noted, it took a few months to complete the signage and get organized.
The new office is across the street from her former office space in the Country Club Plaza. However, the new space is some 500 square feet larger, meaning there is now room for a computer for her part-time assistant and room to expand her business, she said.
The new site is a free-standing building.
"It looks like a house, but it is really an office," she said. It is closer to the road than her previous location and more visible from the street. In addition, a ramp directly to the front door provides convenient handicapped access.
Hoffman is an independent State Farm contractor, selling automobile, homeowners, life and health insurance. She also offers the company's financial service products, including banking services "just like a regular bank," including FDIC insurance, and mutual funds, she said.
While State Farm offers all the services of a regular bank–checking, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, loans–customer will not find any teller windows at 415 Geyser Road. All those services are handled online.
Hoffman has been with State Farm for 25 years, the last 13 years, as an agent.
