Steve Ferraro said people who call his accounting firm during tax season will not find basic tax preparation services.
Instead, in calling Ferraro, Amodio and Zarecki CPAs, they will have contacted an office that has focused its tax expertise in a different direction–forensics accounting.
Ferraro said the specialized service his firm provides is not only greatly utilized, keeping him and his partners more than busy, but one that is exciting as well.
Ferraro and his partners, Charles Amodio and Paul Zarecki, are all certified public accountants that specialize in fraud and financial investigations. The firm opened an office at 18 Division St., Suite 413, in Saratoga Springs earlier this summer. Ferraro said the location was an obvious win for both he and his colleagues."We love Saratoga and I live here, so it's just a great spot for us to be in," said Ferraro.
The team has over 100 years of combined experience in traditional accounting roles, but also have an extensive background in forensics accounting.
He said they made the decision to not provide usual accounting services, such as tax forms, because it allows them to concentrate on insurance fraud and worker's compensation cases.
"The work we do is challenging but it's also both fun and rewarding at the same time," said Ferraro.
Aside from just CPAs, the group consists of certified fraud examiners (CFE), master analysts in financial forensics (MAFF), certified valuation analysts (CVA), certified business appraisers (CBA) and certified anti-money laundering specialists (CAMS).
In addition to fraud and financial investigations, they also provide services including fraud prevention, economic damage analysis, insurance loss accounting, business valuations, succession planning, litigation support and expert testimony.
He said collectively the firm has worked on thousands of cases including complex fraud investigations, insurance loss accounting, expert testimonies, depositions, and arbitration and mediation.
The company works with clients including insurance companies, law firms, corporations, nonprofits, state and local government entities, private business owners and claims adjusters.
The firm can be reached at 288-2160. Its website is www.fazcpas.com.
