After 11 years in the insurance business, Cory O’Brien has opened his own agency at 1539 Crescent Road in Clifton Park.
The company, CORE Insurance Consultants, sells property and casualty insurance, provides home, auto and business coverage, and can also provide a life or health insurance policy if necessary.
O’Brien represent three insurance companies. His main supplier is Erie Insurance Group. He also sells policies from Travelers and Progressive insurance companies.
O'Brien said he emphasizes customer service, including making house calls.
"I am trying for a small-town feeling," he said. He knows that customers can buy policies online, but tries to offer them something more in the way of service and personal attention.
The business came about almost by chance. O'Brien said a good friend, attorney George Lamarche, had suitable space available in his office building. It happened at a time when O'Brien was ready to strike out on his own.
O'Brien is a New York state-licensed broker for property and casualty and life and health insurance. He concentrates on personal lines, primarily home and auto.
He has one employee at the agency, a customer service representative who can take care of policy changes and claims and greet customers, including walk-ins.
