Adirondack Trust Co. will soon break ground for a new branch located at Luther Forest Boulevard and Route 67 in Malta.
The bank is looking to serve not only the area near Northway Exit 12, but is looking to specifically take advantage of the locations’ close proximity to GlobalFoundries said Charles V. Wait Jr., executive vice president.
The branch office is expected to open sometime this fall.
Wait said the branch will differ from the others as it won’t be a stand-alone property. It is part of a building owned by Stewart’s Shops and the office will adjoin a Stewart’s store. Adirondack Trust will rent the space from Stewart’s.
"You won't usually see an Adirondack Trust connected to another part of a larger building, so that alone makes this different," said Wait.
Wait said while the appearance may be different, the new office will still offer all of the same services traditionally offered by the bank.
"We will still have a drive thru, and an ATM. It's a full-service branch," said Wait.
Wait said Adirondack Trust bank locations are the same in structure and appearance, however this branch is 1,300 square feet, as opposed to the stand-alone structures that are around 2,500 square feet. He said what they are most excited about is the convenient location.
"We were drawn to being connected to a Stewart's. It was also about this particular spot, which gets a lot of traffic. We think it will really be a great convenience to GlobalFoundries employees," said Wait.
Wait said right now they are waiting for final approval from the town before Stewart's begins construction. He anticipates at least one more meeting to finalize details of the project. Once the branch is open, Wait said the bank will employ two to three people per shift.
Adirondack Trust Co. has 10 branch offices and three insurance offices in Albany, Saratoga and Washington counties.
