Ballston Spa National Bank announced that Kathleen Fialkowski, business development officer, received the 2016 Summit Employee of the Year award.
Fialkowski was recognized for her exceptional dedication to customer service and the bank’s core values of teamwork, respect, accountability, integrity and leadership, bank officials said.
Fialkowski joined BSNB in 2014 as a branch manager in Burnt Hills. She was promoted later that year to business development officer, which is her current position.
The following monthly Summit Award winners were also recognized for their contributions and commitment to the bank’s customer service objectives: Christine Kernochan, Chris Rowland, Joanna Simard, Matthew Howard, Lydia Griffiths, Bethany Russell, June Lane and Noelle Kahler.

Lou Izzo was named president of the Select Sotheby’s International Realty franchise in Saratoga Springs.
Izzo joined the firm as co-owner and real estate broker. He has more than 25 years of experience in real estate, including serving as president of HUNT Real Estate ERA in Buffalo. He is also CEO of Real Estate Leadership, an international consulting firm.
The company also announced director of operations Andrea Demoracski was promoted to vice president.

The Wesley Community announced Marie Glotzbach and Jesse Boucher were appointed to the board of directors of the Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs.
A theater educator for more than 40 years in five states, Glotzbach, a Skidmore College theater lecturer the past 13 years, serves on the Skidmore Cares executive committee and the Leadership Saratoga advisory board.
She has served on numerous boards throughout Saratoga County and has been recognized for her community service, mentorship, and commitment to the arts.
Boucher joins the Wesley Community board as an extension of his longstanding commitment to Saratoga County. The president of Kodiak Construction for more than 12 years, he is a volunteer project manager for Habitat for Humanity and a board member, and past president of the Saratoga Builders Association.
He has served on numerous local, regional, and state construction industry boards.

Serendipity Arts Studio announce the addition of chef Natalia Gaviria to its list of instructors.
Based in New York City, Gaviria is known for a culinary style rooted in the simplicity of natural ingredients applied to everyday life, according to Serendipity owner Patrice Mastrianni.
Gaviria is a part-time resident of Clifton Park and was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She is a graduate of the New York’s Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts, and holds a master’s degree in food therapy.
She has experience at numerous New York restaurants, as an event caterer and as the author of four cookbooks for the Latin American market.
As owner of Cook-Life Inc., she develops recipes and restaurant concepts across for such clients as Nestle Colombia, Amy’s Bread Bakery, Syracuse University and SUNY, Pratt Institute.
Gaviria gained television notoriety as a featured chef on the Food Network’s show, “Chopped.”

The Saratoga Builders Association Inc. announced the appointment of Jaclyn Hakes to its board of directors.
Hakes, AICP, is an associate and director of planning services at MJ Engineering and Land Surveying PC. She has extensive experience in comprehensive planning, zoning, brownfield redevelopment, resiliency planning, complete streets, public facilitation, grant writing, SEQRA and NEPA.
Hakes also has municipal experience conducting technical reviews for site plans, special use permits, and subdivisions as well as implementing form-based code. Her work has been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the Upstate New York Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA).
She has a degree from SUNY Binghamton’s environmental studies and geography programs as well as a master’s in regional planning from the University at Albany. She is currently vice chairwoman of the Saratoga PLAN board and is a member of the University at Albany Department of Geography and Planning Community Advisory Board.
Hakes is a former board member of the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Planning Association having served as co-chairwoman of several chapter and regional conferences. She is a frequent presenter at various local, state and national conferences and a regular guest speaker at the University at Albany and Skidmore College.

Mannix Marketing’s team of marketing professionals has expanded again with three recent additions.
Erin Nudi and Joseph Legault joined the team as creative content editors. Nicholas Flaherty joined the team as a client support specialist.
Nudi brings experience as a freelance writer for publications such as 518Life, Times Union, and Saratoga Today. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Roger Williams University, where she double-majored in English literature and communications.
Nudi will write content about local businesses and events for regional newsletters and online guides including Albany.com, Saratoga.com, LakeGeorge.com, and Adirondack.net. She will also assist with keeping local event calendars up to date.
Legault has experience in creative writing, editing, proofreading and database information management.
He is a 2010 graduate of Hadley-Luzerne High School and a 2014 graduate of Hamilton College, where he majored in creative writing and minored in medieval and renaissance studies. While studying at Hamilton, he worked as a media relations intern and an editor for the college’s literary/arts magazine.
Flaherty will work to provide clients with customer service and assist with website edits and adjustments. He will also serve as office manager.
Flaherty holds a bachelor’s degree from the SUNY Albany, where he majored in communications and minored in business. Before coming to Mannix Marketing, Flaherty worked at WNYT Channel 13 as a studio camera and teleprompter operator. He has also worked as a marketing/sports reporting intern with the Amsterdam Mohawks Collegiate Baseball team.
