Construction of a new La Quinta hotel is nearing completion on Route 9 in Clifton Park and should be open some time in June, its owner said.
Anthony Casale, who owns Casale Rent-All in Clifton Park, is the sole principal for the four-story, 104-room hotel. It is located at 1749 Route 9, near Northway Exit 9. It sits on a 4.5-acre lot.
Bette & Cring in Latham is the general contractor for the project. The company has done projects in the area including the Hampton Inn in downtown Saratoga Springs, Saratoga National Golf Club and Hyatt Place in Malta.
Casale said construction crews are working on the stucco exterior and also doing some interior sheetrock work. But it could be open as early as June 20.
Construction began in November.
“We’re excited,” he said. “We want to be open by track season and we’ve been told we will be.”
There have been numerous hotel projects in Saratoga County over the last few years, and some still in the works. Casale said he did a market research study that “showed strong support for another hotel in Clifton Park.”
He noted the La Quinta hotel chain also expressed a desire to have more of a presence in upstate New York.
The building design is new for the La Quinta chain, in a style it calls Del Sol. Casale said it is a mid- to upper-middle-scale hotel. The new structure is 56,000 square feet.
“It’s a new style, a new concept for them,” Casale said. The Clifton Park hotel will be the sixth in the country with that new design and the first in the northeast.
There is no restaurant, but guests will get a continental breakfast. The facility has meeting rooms for businesses and space to rent for social activities.
It will employ 12-15 people, the owner said.
Rooms and meeting space can be booked by calling the hotel at 579-6500.
La Quinta announced on May 3 that during the first quarter of 2016, it opened five new franchise hotels, representing approximately 650 rooms and signed 12 new franchise agreements, growing its development pipeline to 232 hotels, representing more than 20,000 rooms.
