The Law Office of Carolyn A. D’Agostino PLLC
has moved to a new location at 634 Plank Road,
Suite 102 in Clifton Park.
D’Agostino opened her private practice in 2007
after working 21 years for the state of New York,
where she was director of hearing administration
and the matrimonial unit at New York State Retirement
Systems.
The law firm moved to Clifton Park from its
former location in Latham in order to be more
centrally located for her clients. D’Agostino sees
Clifton Park as a fast-growing area, with opportunities
to provide valuable services to residents
of the surrounding community.
She said she is also excited to be working with
other local professionals.
“It’s a real pleasure to work and do business
here,” she said, in particular noting that the
Ballston Spa court system is excellent.
The experience D’Agostino acquired working
for state Retirement Systems was instrumental
to her in developing a special focus on advising
couples going through divorce, she said. Counseling
in the area of Division of Retirement Assets
become an important experience in helping develop
her private practice. That practice includes
matrimonial law, divorce mediation, and estate
planning.
“There are not a lot of matrimonial attorneys in
the area who are willing or who have the expertise
to focus on this very important component of the
separation and divorce process,” said D’Agostino.
D’Agostino received her first law degree in
1994 from Loyola University of Chicago School
of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude,
ranking third in her class. She was also a member
of the Loyola Law Journal and editor of the Loyola
Consumer Law Reporter. She did this while raising
two children, who were 4 and 6 at the time of her
graduation.
In 2011, D’Agostino received an LLM (Master of
Laws) degree from Western New England College
of law, in the areas of estate planning and elder law.
In addition, she has been involved in pro bono
work, focusing on helping victims of domestic
violence. She was the 2013 recipient of a leadership
award for outstanding legal service to domestic
violence victims, given to her by the Legal Project
of the Women’s Bar Association of Albany. She also
remains active in the Legal Aid Society, both locally
and in the Mid-Hudson Valley region.
