Two new mixed-used retail and office
buildings are being planned on Route 9 in
Malta. The parcels are behind the CAP COM
Federal Credit Union building.
The buildings are being designed by Lansing
Engineering.
“There was a need for additional retail in
Malta,” said Yates Scott Lansing, owner of
Lansing Engineering. “People needed more
office space.”
Currently the project is in the conceptualization
phase.
“We hope to get through the process fairly
quickly. The Town of Malta has always been
pretty good about moving things forward.
We hope to break ground by the end of summer”
he said.”It’s still early in the project.”
According to the company, the first building
offers a mixed-used space for offices and
retail business. The building will be 12,000
square feet in total.
There will be an additional building,
located behind the first one. The ground
floor will feature 25,000 square feet of retail
space. The second floor will feature 10,000
square feet. The company said there will be
room for six to 10 new retail establishments
once completed, as well as room for several
offices.
The retail and office buildings will have
shared access with the CAP COM Federal
Credit Union. Parking will be located behind
the credit union.
Lansing Engineering was involved in
other projects, including the Bluth Building
in Malta.
The Bluth Buillding is on 1.81 acres at
2452 Route 9, Malta. It is a three story commercial
and retail building structure that
is approximately 34,000 gross square feet
in size. Professional offices encompass the
second and third floor, with the first floor
accommodations available for retail business
and a drive-thru bank.
