Thanksgiving weekend proved to be a positive
glimpse of what the future may hold for
the new Squires Café in South Glens Falls.
The cafe, located at 71 Saratoga Ave., was
the previous home of Maude’s Café. Now
under the management and ownership of
Jen Pereau and her fiancé Mike Squires, the
restaurant is bringing new life to the location
and is getting raves reviews on their
Facebook page.
Pereau said they strived to make the cafe
a family friendly atmosphere where people
can get home cooked classics, with some new
twists. She said Squires has worked in the
industry for years, with a lifelong dream of
being his own boss.
“Mike has been a chef for over 25 years and
has always wanted to own his own restaurant.
We seized the opportunity to open our place
where an existing restaurant had closed a few
months earlier. We’ve changed the decor and
menu,” said Pereau.
The family style restaurant serves breakfast
and lunch seven days a week with dinners
Thursday through Saturday nights. As of right
now, they employ seven people. Peareau said
they already have customer favorites.
"Most popular dishes include homemade
corned beef hash and our speciality four egg
omelettes for breakfast, burgers and wraps
for lunch and our prime rib dinner special.
Our customers love our warm friendly atmosphere,
fast service and great food," said
Pereau.
She said the ultimate vision for Squires
and Peareau is provide a place for people to
get a comfortable meal that almost feels like
home but still has the luxuries of eating out.
"Our goal is to provide a place where great
food and friend meet. We've already made a
lot of new friends and couldn't be more excited
about our location and the community
support. Our portions sizes are very large so
we expect no one to walk away hungry," said
Pereau.
