The Malta Business and Professional Association
will host its sixth annual 5K road
race on Saturday, Sept. 12, an event that will
take runners through NYSERDA’s Saratoga
Technology and Energy Park and the Luther
Forest Technology Campus.
GlobalFoundries, located in Luther Forest
Technology Campus, is the title sponsor of the
event which last year raised well over $32,000
to support the Saratoga Rural Preservation
Corp.’s VetHelp and Malta’s emergency first
responders.
Organizers said the event is a way to give
back to the veterans and EMS responders.
As participants go out on the course, the
marshals helping direct traffic will be mostly
comprised of volunteers from the vet home
in Ballston Spa.
The event starts at Hudson Valley Community
College TEC Smart located within
NYSERDA’s Saratoga Technology & Energy
Park (STEP). The course then takes participants
south though Luther Forest Technology
Campus and by the new town of Malta
recreation ball fields. Runners will go through
GlobalFoundries campus, which comprises
almost a mile of the 3.1 mile total.
Participants finish back through STEP and
TEC Smart.
There will be food provided by Hannaford
after the race. Also tours of HVCC TEC Smart
will be available throughout the morning.
The event is part of the Saratoga Stryders
Running group 2015 Grand Prix. Fleet Feet
Albany/Adirondack is an official prize sponsor
and is providing cash prizes to overall male
and female winners.
There will be over 70 award categories of
all ages donated from local companies. After
the race, participants are encouraged to stay
in Malta for 27th annual Community Day at
Shenantaha Creek Park.
The 1st thousand runners/joggers/walkers
are guaranteed a New Balance gender
specific technical running shirt. Interested participants can register online at a cost of
$25 and after Sept. 10 for $30.

start.
The proceeds will go to VetHelp, which
has operated a program to assist homeless
veterans since 1988 and is located in Ballston
Spa. Its mission is to serve the needs of homeless
military veterans by empowering them to
embrace and maintain independent living and
self-sufficiency.
