Document security is an important
concern for offices today. Technology has
made it possible for hackers to breach any
electronic information. Companies are
realizing the importance of securing their
information.
3N Document Destruction, at 748 Pierce
Road in Clifton Park, deals with such issues,
offering in-office, or out-of-office solutions.
The Neville family started it as a shredding
company, and over the years have
expanded services to include archiving,
confidential destruction of documents,
documentation storage and electronic data
storage.
Today, shredding is still the most popular
service, the owners said. 3N Document
Destruction is able to travel to a business
site and pick up materials to be disposed of.
The company travels to 60 to 80 client sites
every week, and operates within a 30 mile
radius of Clifton Park, said the Nevilles.
Shredding is able to be done on a schedule
that fits the needs of a business. Some
clients have documents shredded every
week, while others shred a couple times
each year.
They said documents are taken to an
AAA-certified shredding site, the only site
of such certification within 150 miles.
Security cameras are on the premises. All
documents are destroyed, then recycled,
per government mandate. Each employee
at 3N Document Destruction has received a thorough criminal background check to
further ensure safety.
Dave Neville said government laws such
as HIPAA and FACTA have put pressures
on companies in regard to protecting the
confidentiality of some types of information.
“Now it is required by anyone who uses
people’s information to protect that information,”
he said.
One of the other services that is provided
at 3N Document Destruction is the storage
of electronic data on tapes. All tapes are
kept in a climate controlled vault.
“The problem with putting your information
on the cloud is that people are stealing
data. The data is on a tape instead of the
internet, so it can’t be hacked,”said Neville.
He said some clients are sole proprietors,
while others are large companies with
thousands of employees. Clients include
companies in the health care, law, and
manufacturing fields.
Neville said the choice for protecting a
customer’s information is clear: The cost
you pay for these services is a lot less than
what you would pay if there is a leak in
security.
“If there’s a breach and it can be linked
to your company, there’s huge fines to pay
and jail time involved” said Neville. “The
prices with us can be as low as a dollar a
day, versus thousands of dollars in fines.”
