PeroxyChem will begin construction on
its hydrogen peroxide purification plant
this summer in the Grande Industrial Park
in Saratoga Springs.
Company officials said the Saratoga
Spring location was chosen in response
to the needs of GlobalFoundries, to which
PeroxyChem is a product supplier.
The factory is designed to support the Fab
8 chip plant in Malta, where the computer
chip manufacturer uses hydrogen peroxide
to clean and remove impurities during
production.
The new facility will become Peroxy-
Chem’s second hydrogen peroxide purification
facility in the U.S. and third worldwide,
according to the company’s Global Business
Director Stephanie Montag.
PeroxyChem’s factory will create 10 managerial,
laboratory and chemical manufacturing
jobs, she said.
Montag said construction will begin this
spring and should be completed in early
2016.
“We will have a ground breaking ceremony some time during mid-May to officially mark
the beginning of construction,” said Montag.
Proximity to GlobalFoundries was a major
component in deciding such a facility was
needed by GlobalFoundries. The Saratoga
Springs facility will allow for a safe and reliable
supply of the product while allowing
PeroxyChem to better serve customers, according
to Montag, global business director,
hydrogen peroxide for PeroxyChem.
The entire cost of the project is not yet
being disclosed by the company, however,
PeroxyChem was awarded nearly $894,000
in tax breaks over eight years from the
Saratoga County Industrial Development
Agency.
“We would look forward to becoming a
part of the area’s business community,” said
Montag.
PeroxyChem employs approximately 600
people throughout the world, with facilities
in North America, Europe and Asia. They
specialize in customizing chemistries for
electronics, energy, environmental, food
safety, pulp, paper, polymer, and other industrial
and consumer markets.
