BUA Thai Sushi is a new restaurant in Ellsworth
Commons in Malta.
Doors opened in March at the establishment
at 1103 Ellsworth Boulevard.
the company also has a restaurant in Lewiston,
Maine.
BUA was searching the northeast for additional
locations and was attracted to Malta
because of GlobalFoundries, which has brought
in a large and diverse workforce from all around
the world, according to manager Henry Noh.
“There are not a lot of Thai or Japanese restaurants
around here,” said Noh. “You have to go
to Saratoga Springs or Clifton Park.”
The owners of Ellsworth Commons have been
aggressively trying to bring in more businesses.
Current tenants include Plum Dandy, Wired
Coffee & Bagel and House of Polish.
Noh said residents in Malta will enjoy the
eclectic cuisine he offers. The menu includes
Japanese and Thai food. There are several
freshly prepared sushi rolls to choose from, from
standard rolls like the California roll to their own Lewiston roll.
There are party boats of sushi available
to feed large gatherings of people. Japanese
entrees include tempuras, teriyakis, rice and
noodle bowls, and more. For Thai food, there are
several curry dishes and rice dishes. Noh said
some of the favorite dishes at the restaurant
include the grilled lobster in tamarind sauce;
hor monk seafood in red curry basil sauce; and
crispy duck.
All of the food is authentic in style. Noh himself
has 12 years of experience in restaurants,
training as a sushi chef. His staff is all classically
trained in Thai and Japanese food.
The restaurant has a serene atmosphere, with
lots of Asian artwork adorning the walls. There
are dark hardwood floors that match the tables.
The sushi counter is set out in front, so customers
can watch their lunch being prepared.
BUA Thai Sushi is open every day from 11:30
a.m. until 9 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 to
3 p.m., and dinner is served from 3 p.m. until
close. For more information, visit buathaisushi.com or call 788-8898.
