The Hamlet at Saratoga Springs, a multi-use
building that is the third phase of the Fresh
Market plaza development on Excelsior Street
in Saratoga Springs, is expected to open in
early 2016.
The new building, currently under construction,
will add 55 luxury apartments and 14,000
square feet of retail and office space to the
complex. Already completed and occupied
at the plaza are the Fresh Market store itself
and a separate retail building with three food oriented
tenants and two more expected to
open for business in mid-summer, officials said.
Prime Companies of Cohoes is developing
the complex. The general contractor for the
Hamlet is Trinity Building and Construction
Management of Wilmington, Mass.
Todd Curley, a partner in Prime Companies,
said apartments in the Hamlet will range from
one-bedroom to three-bedroom units, some
with their own rooftop gardens.
The building will have indoor parking,
common areas for the use of tenants, and a communal rooftop garden. Rents have not
been determined, according to Curley, who has
overall responsibility for the project. He said
they will be in the luxury category.
Construction began three months ago,
Curley said, and he expects the building to be
completed by the end of 2015, with occupancy
in early 2016.
He noted that the Fresh Market Plaza
is close to the heart of downtown Saratoga
Springs but offers ample free parking for
customers.
Development in that area is doing well,
thanks in large part to a high demand for restaurant
space in the city, Curley noted.
The Phase II building is currently home to
a Smashburger restaurant and Genero’s Pizza
as well as a kitchen supply store, Compliments
to the Chef.
The Fresh Market grocery store opened
about a year ago. Prime Companies was also
involved in the construction of Pavilion Grand
Hotel which opened in 2014 on Lake Avenue
in Saratoga Springs.
