Saratoga National Bank and Trust
Co. announced the promotion of vice
president Belinda Cross Kucharski
to Saratoga regional manager.
Cross Kucharski
will oversee daily
activities, human resources
and sales performance at all eight
Saratoga National offices, working with each
team to help them reach their goals. She most
recently served as branch manager of the
Clifton Park office.
She has over 24 years of banking experience
in the Capital Region and North Country.
She graduated from Ausable Valley High
School and has an associate’s degree in business
administration from Clinton Community
College.
Cross Kucharski serves on CAPTAIN Youth
and Family Services’ executive board, the
Chamber of Southern Saratoga County’s
Education and Business Committee, and
is involved with the Chamber’s Angels and
Ambassador programs.
Janet Herter joined the Thoroughbred
Retirement Foundation as its
chief financial officer
and vice president of
operations. The foundation
has provided
homes for more than
4,000 former racehorses
over its 31-year
history.
A resident of Troy, Herter has worked as
consulting CFO for a number of businesses,
most recently Ulster/Greene ARC in Kingston,
Rejuveness Pharmaceutical in Saratoga
Springs, Max London’s and Mrs. London’s
Bakery in Saratoga Springs and Bakery and
Beverly. Additionally, she was the consulting
CFO at the Rensselaerville Institute and
Interim CFO at The Albany Academy.
She was also CFO/COO for Logical Net
Corp. in Schenectady, CFO of SEFCU as
well as Wind River Environmental LLC in
Hudson, Mass.
Reform Pilates Club
announced that Jen
Perry and Annmarie
Guglielmo recently
joined its team of instructors.
They have been
through the Romana’s
pilates certification
program in New York
City.
Perry began taking regular pilates lessons
five years ago. She is an active community volunteer,
serving on several non-profit boards
throughout Saratoga County. She is a former
vice president of community development for
the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
Perry is a Skidmore graduate and studied
ballet for almost 20 years.
Guglielmo graduated from Saratoga
Springs High School and played on the varsity
team for field hockey and lacrosse. She then
went to Plymouth State college in New Hampshire where she played Lacrosse, majored in
communications and a minor in art history.
She coached a girls lacrosse team at
Plymouth Regional High School in New
Hampshire, and did event planning and group
sales for the town square in Waterville Valley,
N.H. She moved to Boston for three years
where she did human resources at a seafood
wholesaler. When she moved back home to
Saratoga Springs, she worked in retail, human
resources and catering.
Fingerpaint has added Eric Oswald to its
creative team.
Oswald joins Fingerpaint from Sposto Interactive,
where he served as lead interactive
designer and art director. While there, he supervised
web design and technical execution
on interactive projects for NikonUSA, State
Farm, Kaspersky Lab, Yahoo! and Scripps
Networks.
Prior to Sposto Interactive, Oswald was an
associate art director at Idea Lab, responsible
for web and print design projects.
Oswald earned his BFA degree in communication
design from Kutztown University.
Charles E Martin, a financial representative
of Northwestern Mutual, in Saratoga
Springs, qualified for the NAIFA Quality
Award from the National Association of Insurance
and Financial Advisors.
The award recognizes professionalism,
production, adherence to the NAIFA Code of
Ethics, and service to the industry association. This is the 28th time he has earned the
honor.
Martin, who received a bachelor of science
degree from Clarkson University, has
been associated with Northwestern Mutual
since 1983.
Saratoga Center for the Family added,
Vincent “Vinny” Kostolni, LMHC, CASAC,
to its mental health counseling staff.
Kostolini has seven years of experience,
as a state-licensed mental health counselor,
as well as a credentialed alcoholism and
substance abuse counselor (CASAC) through
the state Office of Alcohol and Substance
Abuse Services.
After serving for 21 years as a police officer
and sergeant with the New York Police
Department, he earned his master’s degree
in mental health counseling from the Post
Campus of LIU in Brookville, N.Y.
He is also a certified Gestalt therapist.
Jeffrey D. Palmer, principal at Gordon
Creek Elementary School in Ballston Spa,
will be the new principal at the Maple Avenue
Middle School in Saratoga Springs, effective
Jan. 1. He replaces Stuart Byrne, who will
retire effective Dec. 31.
Palmer began his professional career in
2001 as a sixth grade teacher in the Albany
City School District. He served as an assistant
principal and a principal at Greenville
Middle School in Greenville, N.Y. from 2007
to 2009.
Palmer earned a bachelor’s degree in history
from SUNY Albany in 1998, a master’s
degree in elementary education from the
College of Saint Rose in 2001 and a certificate
of advance study in educational administration
from the College of Saint Rose in 2007.
He holds a professional certificate from New
York state as a school district leader, a provisional
certificate as a school administrator,
and permanent certification as an elementary
education teacher.
Saratoga Hospital welcomed pathologist
Dr. Josenia Narcisa Tan, MT (ASCP), to its
medical staff. She joined Saratoga Pathology
PC, located at Saratoga Hospital.
Dr. Tan earned her medical degree from
Far Eastern University Nicanor Reyes Medical
Foundation, Manila, Philippines, completed
an internship at Metropolitan Medical Center,
Manila, Philippines, a residency and a
cytopathology fellowship at Boston University
Medical Center, Boston.
Two administrators from the Saratoga
Springs City School District were selected to
be a part of the College Board’s 2014 Chinese
Bridge Delegation.
Joseph Greco, K-12 director of math,
science and technology integration and
Freya Mercer, K-12 director of humanities
integration, will be traveling to Beijing and
Jiangsu Province in mid-November with the
delegation.
The program itinerary focuses on visiting
Chinese K-12 schools and observing
classrooms, establishing partnerships with
Chinese education institutions, and attending
presentations on best practices to build
and support Chinese language and culture
programs.
Max London’s restaurant in Saratoga
Springs announced the addition of a new
general manager, Charlotte Guyton.
Guyton is responsible for managing the
daily operations of the restaurant and bar,
including training of service staff, wine list
selection and maintenance and overall level
of service.
Guyton entered the hospitality industry in
2005 and since then has assumed multiple
roles including serving, cooking, management
of quick service establishments to fine
dining and luxury restaurants. Most recently,
she served as the specialty foods manager
and wine/beer purchaser at Healthy Living
Market and Café in Wilton Mall.
A Buffalo, NY native, Guyton resides in
Saratoga Springs. She attended Paul Smith’s
College in the Adirondacks and studied hotel,
resort and tourism with a concentration in
food and beverage operations and business
management operations. She also holds a
degree in baking and pastry arts.
Fingerpaint has added Nick McDowell
and Ian DeMeritt to its creative and medical
teams.
Prior to joining Fingerpaint’s creative
team, Nick McDowell was a senior copywriter
for Palio+Ignite, where he worked
on multichannel offerings in the HIV, MS,
and adherence categories. He also served as
senior digital copywriter for New York City’s
Grey Healthcare Group, spearheading the
agency’s efforts with interactive applications
and websites for Colgate Total, Abraxane, and
Invega Sustenna.
McDowell graduated from the University of
Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in
creative writing and a minor in biology.
DeMeritt was hired to lead Fingerpaint’s
medical team. An accomplished virologist,
DeMeritt was formerly medical director
for Palio+Ignite, where he provided strategic
medical direction and content for the
agency’s pharmaceutical and molecular
diagnostic products. He also served as assistant
scientific director for Paradigm Medical
Communications .
DeMeritt earned his Ph.D. in microbiology
and immunology at Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center, and his bachelor’s
degrees in biology and interdisciplinary studies
at Virginia Tech.
