Ryan-Biggs Associates PC of Clifton Park
and Clark Engineering and Surveying PC have
merged and operate under the name Ryan
Biggs Clark Davis Engineering & Surveying
PC.
Company officials said it is now one of the
largest women-owned engineering firms in Upstate
New York, providing structural engineering;
civil engineering; repair and restoration;
construction support, inspection, and testing;
and surveying services.
With a combined total of nearly 70 years of
professional engineering practice, Ryan Biggs
Clark Davis maintains a staff of 40, including
20 licensed engineers, in three offices in New
York state.
Originally founded by Tom Ryan as J. Thomas
Ryan Engineering in 1973 and later joined
by David Biggs in 1978, Ryan-Biggs Associates
called River Street in Troy its home until 2010
when the corporate headquarters moved to
Clifton Park. In 2000, Ryan-Biggs started an office
in the Finger Lakes Region (Skaneateles)
to service Central New York clients.
Over the last four decades, Ryan-Biggs
has provided structural engineering services
across New York state. The firm has designed,
preserved, and rehabilitated many Capital
Region structures including: Proctor’s Theatre,
Rensselaer Rail Station, Albany Medical
Center’s Patient Pavilion, Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception, Restoration New
York State Education Building, New York
State Police Troop G headquarters, St. Peter’s
Hospital Hearst Pavilion, RPI’s Biotechnology
& Interdisciplinary Studies Building, and
Hudson Valley Community College’s Science
Center.
Ryan-Biggs has provided the structural
design for thousands of K-12 schools, religious
facilities, hospitals, cultural facilities, libraries,
industrial facilities, colleges and universities,
and highway and historic bridges. The firm
often collaborates with architects, contractors,
engineers, municipalities, private and
commercial owners, and government agencies.
Clark Engineering was founded in 1986 by
Douglas and Ann Clark in Columbia County
to provide civil engineering to the smaller
municipalities in the region. The firm’s focus
was on bringing innovative and cost-effective
solutions to its clients, with many projects
being the first of their kind permitted by New
York state regulatory agencies.
The firm has provided site and structural
engineering and land surveying services on
projects of all sizes for a diverse client base,
including numerous government agencies and
municipalities.
With the merger also comes changes in the
board of directors. Paul A. Rouis III, PE, was
named CEO; Jamie L. Davis, PE, LEED AP, is
president; Ann Clark, PE, is a vice president,
and Jack C. Healy, PE, is a vice president.
