Cudney’s Cleaners, a locally-owned dry
cleaners, recently installed solar water
heaters at three of their Saratoga Springs
locations.
“Cudney’s has always been a customer,
environment and community-focused
business. This new system allows us to
meet the needs of our customers and
utilize the power of the sun, all while using
less energy,” said Joyce Ure, general
manager and vice president of Cudney’s
Cleaners.
She thanked Stewart’s Corporation as
well, which owns the three properties,
“for allowing us to place the solar panels
on the rooftop of their plaza. Without
their cooperation, we would not have
been able complete this project.”
Lyn Whaley, owner and president of
Cudney’s Cleaners, said the company is
“proud to make this investment, not only
for our company, but also for the environment.
The technology has improved
so dramatically that we are now able to
harness the power of the sun and preheat
the water for all of our processes.
“We continue to strive to serve the
community in the most responsible and
green way possible.”
The panels on the rooftops of Cudney’s
Cleaners plant, 5 Aletta St., and retail
locations at 160 South Broadway and
86 West Ave. (Stewart’s Plaza), all in
Saratoga Springs.
The company said it has already
made an investment into a new technology
called the System K4 dry cleaning
process. The solvent is halogen-free,
biodegradable, recyclable and “has the
same excellent cleaning capabilities of
the industry standard solutions. This
system allows us to meet the needs of
the customer along with the community
in both an ecological and safe way.”
