Kings Tavern, 241 Union Ave, Saratoga
Springs, across from Saratoga Race Course,
has a new owner.
The Fitch brothers–Jason, Patrick, and
Adam– recently purchased the bar. They
also operate Saratoga City Tavern, a fivestory
bar at 19-21 Caroline St. in downtown
Saratoga Springs.
Richard Bendon of Saratoga Springs had
owned and operated Kings Tavern for 40
years before his death in 2008. The Bendon
family put the tavern on the real estate
market in 2013.
Now the Fitches are expanding their
tavern business with Kings.
The brothers have been working at a fast
pace since the purchase in April to have the
bar ready for the summer.
“We are fast tracking everything and
shooting for an opening date prior to track
season,” the Fitches said.
Since the closure of the tavern several
years ago, the property had been in decline.
The brothers are repairing both the façade
and interior of the building, which is 2,200
square feet. The inside will feature a horse
theme to pay homage to their race track
neighbors.
Kings Tavern will feature a large and
rotating lineup of draught beers, similar to
those at Saratoga City Tavern. The tavern
will have a menu of typical pub fare, including
burgers and sandwiches.For more
